I've been looking around at getting an XR6T, and am pretty sure that I want one of the new BF series.

I am after leather seats, premium sound and 18" alloys.

Through a financing company, I have been quoted around $55K ($23K for 1 year lease term with insurance, maintenance, fuel etc.. and $32K residual).

Are there any ways/places to get one cheaper than this? I can pay cash if that makes it any cheaper. (I haven't seen any 2nd hand BF's for sale yet, but would be willing to wait a short while if this will save much).

I live in sydney, but would be willing to travel around if other cities are cheaper.

Cheers.

Dave

Coat Hanger?

But seriously I think there was one for sale in the market section?

And I would be bargining with a dealer myself rather than going through a lease company.

I reckon that car should cost you under $50k on road. They have quoted you full retail so you need to go shop hard and screw some dealers.

Whilst you ***may*** not be able to get a BF T any cheaper than 55K (That also to me seems high), you may be able to do something about your lease payments (I'd imagine they will be quite high)do it over either 2 or 3 years as you new car will lose about a third of it's value within the first few months of ownership, but after that it depriciate at a much slower rate...

I paid $53K for my T over a 3 year term, and I'm looking at paying on the lease costs over the 3 years as much as you seem to be doing over only the one year... And my residual will be about the same...

Just a suggestion...

One suggestion is to get a 2002 or 2003 BA XR6T for about $25k through a bank loan as interest rates on bank loans are usually lower than the lease companies or buy it out-right. Wait about 12 to 18 months until the production bugs have been sorted out in the BF XR6T and then sell your BA and upgrade to either a 2nd hand BF XR6T (that way you don't have to pay for the huge depreciation that happens as the car rolls out of the dealership). My thoughts anyway.

Would going thru a carbroker help? I saved 4k off a new BAmkI back in Dec 03 buying thru one. I can think of 3:

Private Fleet

Fleet Capital

carbroker.com.au

Personally I dont buy factory options where possible, they are grossly overpriced AND you get stamp duty on that value too.

Thanks everyone, I'll check out some of the fleet places and also start trying to convince myself that a BA MKII is still a very good car.

enjoy your weekends!

Hi All

I've just signed up for an '05 BF Typhoon today and paid just over $56,000 plus options.

Whilst I was shopping around I could have bought an '05 BF XR6T for as little as $47,000 including 18" wheels and premium sound. So it pays to do some shopping around and some haggling.

If you want an auto you are better off with the BF, if not the Mk11 will be a better buy.

Regards

Big AL

I was tossing up the same thing BF with the 6 speed auto or BA with the old 4 speed. Ended up getting a brand new BA mkii with all the stuff listed un my sig for $35600 on the road.

This was through an employee discount program that saved me around 5 grand. Was looking at around an extra 10 grand for a BF with the same equip. While I would love that new 6 speed auto the 4 speed is not a bad box by any means and I couldn't justify the extra money.

Have a look around and if you can find a kick ass deal on a BA then go for it, otherwise pay the extra for the BF safe in the knowledge you'r driving the best auto ever relesed in an Australian car. :spoton:
