Capa Flash & Ford Warranty

If ive flashed my car and then re input my original factory program before taking my car in for servicing will Ford know that I have had a nother program on there?

Im quite concerned about Ford warranty issues and need some factual advice or first hand experience of members that have flashed and then re inputted original factory program be fore servicing.

Had my sh!theap serviced the other day,put in the factory tune,got the car back,no probs,actually went a bit harder,so they musta put in a new flash

if ford reflash your car while in for servicing, when you flash your tune in it overrites the upgraded tune that ford has just flashed into your car. The next time you flash your car back to factory it WILL NOT match the program file that ford is expecting to see, therfore they can tell you have an edit.

You need to see your tuner before flashing in your tune again after ford does theres to ensure that the factory tune on your edit box is updated with the current factory tune in your car.

Well I dont understand it that way,my box would take out of ecu what ever the last thing was in there,so if ford put in #007 flash,my capa box would retreve flash #007

next rervice,I flash back in #007 and that's what ford see

Lets say I whent in for servicing my car gets flashed with an updated ford program. I come home upload a CAPA flash program and save the factory one on the CAPA box.

Then before taking my car in for the next service I upload the CAPA program and re download the factory program that was saved on the CAPA box.

Will they know?

Does the CPU keep a memory of when the the unit was last flashed?

Or keep certain data in its memory such as ave speed,ave revs,average boost pressure etc...

So if they process this data on their computers they can see that the car was boosting at 10psi etc.. and hence not running a factory program.

Its only a problem when ford reflash once you have already stored your factory tune on your capa box. If that happens you need to talk to your tuner about resetting the box so you can store the new factory tune

Pretty sure this is the correct process to follow;

1. Prior to a ford service upload the factory tune and then get your tuner to clear your box of ALL tunes.

2. After the service get your tuner to reload the custom tunes which you can then upload which in turn downloads the updated ford factory tune.

3. Follow steps 1. & 2. everytime you take the car to ford in case they update the factory tune.

In your case, because you didn't do step 1 the updated factory tune was unable to be downloaded due to the factory slot in the capa box still holding a copy of the old factory tune.

Assuming you have since uploaded a custom tune in which case the updated factory tune has been overwritten and lost for good.

There are 300 other threads on this exact topic with alot of input from some of the ford guys on here. Ford cannot detect the edit, flash the day before you take it in and it will log some drive data on the standard tune. The pcm does not have the capability to log times dates etc as well as overwriting itself after a certain period of time logging information.

I had my car in at ford almost fortnightly with many problems each time flashing the car back to stock. After watching them try to diagnose a problem for two hrs hooked up to the PCM they did not have the foggiest that I had an edit let alone was running 968 injectors.

I also checked with the delaer I used for servicing and he knew the car was modded and admitted that they could not detect it.

If you request that ford DON'T re flash the car (which you can do) when in for servicing then you should never have a problem. As long as you reflash back to standard before taking the car in and the car has not been reflashed by ford since storeing your factory tune in the edit box.
