Tapping Noise From Motor

Drive an 04 auto xr6t with exh, k&n and flasher. The other night whent to give it a bootfull and it missfired and spluttered and then this tapping noise started from the motor.

Ive had a vl turbo which I had spun a bearing on, and im quite concerned that the xr6t might have spun a bearing also.

I think its unlikely as the car didnt manage to really rev hard but I cant think of anything else it could be as the car still drives ok.

I know sometimes a spun bearing can last for while but I cant think of anything else (such as valve spring etc....as this would affect the way the motor runs...)

Has anyone come across the same prob ?

Your input is appreciated.

My has only done this twice. I had pretty much the same mods except the computer was an RDP unit (TSI).

I thought it was a tapping noise also till I wound down the window, but it was more like the sound of?

Remember as a kid people would put a card with a peg on the spokes of there pushbike? well that's the clicking noise I hear and it only stayed for about 30seconds after the missfire and splutter.

Like I said it has only done it twice and this was over 6 months ago now?

Vik,

that's funny because I have the XR8 valve springs fitted by Goldie (Ian)? And thought it would get rid of the spring problem before going higher power?

I actually thought it was something to do with the valve's as my old 6cyl (202) HK Expensive Daewoo that I used to own did it after I revved it to hard.
