Xr6 Or Xr8

Ok

So I test drove the XR8 today, It was a very well looked after car, nice clean, service history was good, still had 6 mths warrenty left. Though it did go ok it still wasnt as quick as the SS I drove the other day, both cars felt quite similar, but it was hard to tell the better ride. Im still yet to drive a newish turbo to compare, but from what ive herd, nearly every one here is saying the turbo, So that is next on the list.

The price was still a little high I thought, 33k (dec 02) 39+kms. in Black.... the note was nice, it rides smooth, and the bonnet bulge is cool.

Bring on the Turbo..

The other thing I wasnt thinking is, my partner is yet to get her licence, so she would not be able to drive it (when she does)..... I only thought about this TODAY, doh!!!!!

Hey guys and gals

I am undecided in which to buy, should I go for the nice sounds and a few KW's in the 8 or just get a turbo and be done with it.

There around the same money. So what do ya's reckon...

I had the same dilemma but could not justify the extra $5000 for a car that was going to be a lot slower spend the extra $5000 on some mods on an xr6t and you won’t look back.

You could always do what I did, I got my wife a little run around car (I had to otherwise she wasn't going to let me have silhouette) If your wife hasn't got her license as yet are you sure a big powerful car is something she'd want to learn on???

HOW NICE WOULD MY CURRENT XR6 BE WITH 40 GRAND SPENT ON IT....

They are giving me BUGGER all for my 2000 xr6 (8k). So we (partner and I) sat down and said and worked out aprox how much we would loose over the next 3yrs buying a turbo, as the current market for a quick sale through the auctions is 26k for a 2 yr old turbo (low Kms) so that is a loss of 22k over new price 48k (discounted), therefore we would be better off spending 22k on my current car and pocket the rest of the residual payment on the new car (18k)...

8K is all their offering??? what about a private sale, whilst I don't know the specifics of your car you should be able (according to RedBook) get around the $13K to $14K mark... The problem is dealers will always give you a raw deal, the older the car the more raw the deal is in comparison... You'd still lose money (that's just cars period) but you'd be in a new car...

Whenever you do the sums like that on your car vs new car your car will always win. Especially when going through a dealer.

Do you really want a BA that badly? Compared to your AU I wouldn't expect you to be all that impressed by the BA's handling although the performance is obviously better. AUs also get better fuel economy model for model.

You know what I think? If you want something that goes as hard as a BA and still handles as well as your current car (or better) then for the dollars you want to outlay there are some really nice Tickfords available. Naturally the T3 is the pick of the bunch and will equal (if not outperform) any BA head to head in normal day to day driving.

Of course I'm biased ..... but so is everyone here! :stirthepot::stirthepot:

g"day turbo 6man

I already have a 2000 tickford VCT xr6, and it is a good looking car, I was just wanting to get into a 8 or t6, with what there offering I dont think it is worth the 40k, as my car is nice now. I think that because of the amount of kms it has is the killer not that it is really bad, 145000. I think with 10k spent on my car I could easy get a turbo, new paint and trim, followed by some nice wheels.
