I've had some issues with my brakes with a crunching feeling under the pedal since the car was new. I mentioned one such problem here.

At other times the brakes have not been able to pull me up at a stop sign as I'd expect, without extra effort - just at normal suburban speeds.

Each time I've brought it up at the dealer, I've got an "all clear".

Now the latest: I got into the car the other day - my 12/03 XR6T - started her up only to find the pedal made a "crunch" and then sank to the floor. The rear right brake hose had burst near the join to the metal end with brake fluid sprayed all over (not the paint fortunately).

Anyone else heard of brake lines bursting? Or know of any other threads relating to BA's having brake hoses rupture?

FoMoCo has instructed the dealer to replace the hose. That one only. I think that's bloody ridiculous and a cost saving measure only. Prudence would surley suggest that all are replaced together considering they were made at the same time.

A call to CRC got a "well if you have any more problems with the brakes, just call us". Yeah... like I hope I get to make the call and not the mortician.

Man I'm glad to hear it didnt happen while you were moving... you dont have any arch enemies do you??

I cant say I have heard of brake lines failing, and I would have thought they were tested to some ridiculous pressures before being allowed to be used on a car!!

That is not good to hear that a brake line has failed, but I bet it has been the cause of your crunchy brakes.

If this was to happen while moving, you will still be able to pull up as brakes in modern cars are split RF/LR and LF/RR to prevent a total failure and allow the car to pull up straight.

I do not see this as a common problem, as it is the first time I have seen it mentioned.

I just hope for your sake it is fixed permenatly

Did you ever get a waring light on the dash, like a circle with a gap top and bottom with and exclamatin mark thru it? Mine came on half dim once for about 20km, checked up the manual and it 's a brake fail waring light. Mentioned it on last service but nothing found.

Scary stuff, it is rare though, not much point changing the other hoses but, sounds like a one off error, mines way older than that and hoses are fine.

The trouble with mass production.... build date isnt 24-12-03 ( or 31-12-03), (not good days!) is it, lol.

:buttonit: that's one thing with ford and fpv.

you tell them your problems with your car and they look over it quickly and if nothing seems to be the problem its all good.

(in thier mind)!!!!!!!!

a problem that bad u would think ford would take the car off the road and fix it asap!

I just hope that its a one off for ya mate and nothing like that`EVER happens again

With all the problems people are having with brakes ford would wanna watch and make sure that somebody doesnt get killed because of a brake failure

I wonder if there will be a safety recall on this?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Strongly doubt it.

Its the first ive ever heard of.

Unfortunately, one does not constitute a recall of thousands of cars.
