This current Cat discussion and those that have gone before have been very subjective in that there does not appear to be any valid information, apart from the usual glossys, that provide sufficient information for the likes of this forum to make an informed decision on which Cats are best suited to the XR6T.

I have the 3" 'Metal' Cat and whilst it is an improvement in terms of rwkw on the factory unit , I would not want to get into a pissing match to say which is the best Cat with out the technical info (test data ) to back up my argument.

If there is info out there then I would like to see it.

As I said earlier I have these on mine I gained 18rwhp then tuned over 60hp at the tyres when I changed to twin cats and dump and exhaust..My exhaust guru put one of these on a flow bench and it flowed close to 750cfm..

I run up to 26psi of boost through them and run 536hp at the wheels this is proven.. I know people trust what I say on here, you dont have to if you want..

If I just wanted to upgrade the CAT due to financial constraints what size should I be going for ? 3, 3.5 or 4 inch? Do all three cost the same? I have been quoted $350 for a 3.5 inch Metal CAT. Do you think we can get the same group price as the rotary boys ?

If you want to run over 13psi boost I would save your money and get the dump pipe done with a 4 inch cat and if you dont then just go to a 3.5 highflow cat of your choice but I do recomend the magic cats.... I also run NOS through these cats aswell with no hiccups..

I pinched this from another forum

Here are some facts on Metallic Substrate Catalytic Converters:

Metallic Substrates are superior to traditional Ceramic Substrates which have been used by the previous "name brands" of high flow catalytic converters. This is because the walls of the substrate are thinner, allowing greater flow.

MAGIC Metallic Substrate Catalytic Converters flow up to 50% more than their traditional competitors. Fitting a MAGIC Cat has been shown to increase power by up to 40HP at the wheels.

Catalytic Converter substrates are coated with material which produces changes in the gases which pass over them. The more cells per square inch the more effective is the catalytic process because there is more surface area.

Magic Cats are constructed with a 300 cell per square inch metallic substrate, and 304 stainless steel body.

Any catalytic converter which is not a direct fit replacement for the original will need modification to fit a vehicle's exhaust, or the exhaust modified to fit the cat.

MAGIC is a registered trademark.

When I got mine from the Nissan Silvia GB, I paid $210 I think delivered for the 4" version.

The ausrotor GB is for $230 delivered.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I just called them up and they can do them for $200 inc GST plus freight

They are also an exhaust shop so if you need to get them fitted and live in Sydney they can help out.

So can we organise a group buy ?
