Pffft.

90db.

Soft.

Cro, is this your car?

My XC, with two mufflers on it, still blows 109db........

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yep, my P6 LTD has only ONE muffler - big pipes from the extractors, with the left bank running into the right at a 45 degree angle under the driver's seat, then into a single muffler and 2.5 inch pipe all the way to the back. I'd hate to know what it would blow in dBs, but I know it'll blow ricer burners' bonnets clean off if they park too close - gotta love the 351Cs hey. :stirthepot::stirthepot:

Good luck with it mate...

as I said don't stress about it too much, it's not worth it, you will pass it if you really want to, just a matter of time or $... in that order.

I have passed and failed 4 or 5 tests... more of pain in the as$... my corolla on it's first run made 109db... as you can imagine I failed but the tester said it was one of his loudest... not something to be proud of but as a P-Plater at the time I was...  :drunk:  :drunk:  :sleepystuff:  :drunk:

Jack  :tease:

In 1991 I had my 4-71 blown 350 chev HQ tested to clear a defect result 128db OMFG. Had to add 4 mufflers to quiet it down enough, that said olthough 3 db is double the gain it's not a hard fix.

What are we looking at with power loss? Im obviously going to have to get retuned!

mate the best option is to cut up a aluminium plate the size of the gasket between say a muffler and pipe. A little smaller actually and just drill about 6 holes about the size of a 5 mm hole. Done let boost kick in while driving it to the shop and back home.

My car was way over 90 db and after this mod it was almost quieter than stock. You could hardly hear the thing.

Best trick ever.

Apexi make one that bolts between the exhaust that actually has a in cabin switch that opens and closes a plate design exactly like this.
