Thankfully for di fillipo he has a plate to put in between the muffler and pipe or something and apparently it will get me the pass and then just take it off when I get the certificate! How good is the so called plate! :)

Mate.... When I first registered the 68 corvette, I was 2 dB over.. :smilielol:

To get through the test, I just rammed a wad of steel wool into each muffler...

I then stuffed some some cut-up chicken wire in, with exposed wire forks, to lock onto the holes in the muffler core ( this was so the steel wool wouldn't come flying out during the test.

At the retest, I came in 3 dB under..... so a 5dB drop in sound pressure level..

total cost.... $2 for some steel wool and a bit of chicken wire..

Not a good permanent fix, as it restricts flow, but will get you through the test.

Then just remove the crap and run it like it was before....

or

get the exhaust modified properly for a legal fix... and

Yes, it will affect your custom tune.... How much will depend on the additional restriction to flow.

ps... How come you had to go through a test..... Had you been picked up for excessive noise?

I passed through a booze bus and looks like as I was leaving he took my number plate down! About this plate I am removing it once I pass the test like as in right after! Will this still affect the tuning?

MMM, twice the legal niose pressure, Naughty Naughty :crybaby:

With every 3 dB, the noise pressure doubles, so 93 dB is twice as load as 90 dB, 96dB 4 times as load as 90dB etc.

Best of luck.

As for the plate, just dont belt it to much while its on there, it will lower the boost, and richen the AFR if it is a big restriction, but for the purpose of the test, it should be fine. Just dont belt it.
