who knows what bullsh*t ford have told him, they probably don't even know what the engineers that pull the engine down are trying to tell them. Useless pricks that contract the ford warranty claims pulled the sump off my engine told Ford it had bent rods. Engine got pulled down and no sign of bent rod. Useless I say :spoton:

I have a series 1, xr6t with just under 50K on the clock and is a regular family car (no mods). Ford have had my car for over 2 weeks and it looks as if I wont get it back for another week! Apparently they dont have enough staff to put it back together (pathetic) so I just have to wait! Plus it has been an up hill battle to get anything out of Ford, as they dont return calls or even call to update you. I think all but one call was made by me! Great customer service, hey?

Now, what happened was that the Top End let go and spat metal through the engine and turbo, plus it also bend a rod. My car is just outside of warranty, but Ford still covered it, lucky as they wanted $16K for a new engine. I suppose that's what you should get for getting it serviced through ford and paying a fortune for the priveledge!

Anyway, the main concern is that all my rods were over size from the start, so you can see the problem! The people who rebuilt the engine for Ford have told me that the rods Ford put in should have been more heavy duty anyway.  Has anyone else had these problems?

Something fishy going on here...

You say "the top end let go", can you please be more specific?

Also, a new long engine isn't quite $16K, more like $6K.

More information please.

Mate, many years ago, a mate of mine was an apprentice toyota mechanic and I remember him saying a replacement crate engine for a starlet was around $10K, so it sounds plausible if it was a 100% new ford engine.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Mate, I work for Ford, so I know exactly how much a new engine is worth...... :spoton:

OK, $6000 for a new engine,

Does that include the Turbo?

In his first post he said:

"Now, what happened was that the Top End let go and spat metal through the engine and turbo, plus it also bend a rod."

The quote he got probably included Labour and a new turbo and a bit added on to be sure...

Dunno, I wouldn't de too doubting just yet, though it does sound high to me.

Believe me I'm the LAST person Ford would want working in their PR department - don't get me started! :gooff::gooff::gooff:

This is why I used the "I had a mate" clause in my reply. Kinda similar to the fifth amendmant in the US. but seriously is $6K on the money?

Are you the original owner?

Have you had the car from new?

Where abouts you located?
