I put the same Castrol synthetic they put in the GT's

The original Magnatec which isn't synthetic is 10W-40 which I'm pretty sure (CBF going to get my handbook) is the grade reccomended by Ford.

15W-40 is the recommended grade for the XR6T.

All I've ever used up until the last two changes when I swapped to the 5W-40 synthetic Magnatec  on recommendation from the Ford dealer. I think the BFs may have a slightly different grade oil recommended. I get my oil and filter changed every 5000km. My dealer has never tried to discourage me. The 5W-40 isn't actually listed on the Castrol website for some reason but I have been to Castrol and seen drums of it so it's not just some story by the dealer to try and lighten your wallet! Only available in 20lt and 205lt drums. 10W-40 Magnatec is available in 5lt at most auto parts shops and even K-Mart.

The Magnatec 5W-40 oil is a trade oil only.

Is it ok to mix oils when topping up , if you do not have the correct oil handy. Is there any real bad effects of adding two different type's of oils together ie synthetic and standard oils.
