Posted 02/03/06 03:40 AM Share Posted 02/03/06 03:40 AM I don't care what they call it, but I think the "XR" thing should be left to the falcons. They even used the same badge as the XR6 Turbo. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Whilst the XR's are not purely a Falcon thing (or a Ford thing for that matter) I'd still prefer Ford Aust leaving the XR naming to the Falcons only, especially leaving the logo exactly the same...IMHO it cheapens the whole "XR" name, and besides they could have used any other number of names \ letter combos \ numbers to ultimately say "speed" (which is what their wanting to do)...Also if you really want to get technical, the name Falcon was used in the US... Although as far as most US ppl's believe the Ford Falcon hasn't been built in 40 years...

It is used to identify the sports / performance version of that particular model of car.Does anyone have an issue with the Territory Ghia or Focus Ghia copying the Fairmont Ghia? How about Audi RS4 and RS6, Mazda3 MPS and 6 MPS, Mitsubishi Lancer VR-X and 380 VR-X, Porsche 911 Carrera S and Boxster S, Saab 9-3 Aero and 9-5 Aero, Toyota Corolla Sportivo and Camry Sportivo, Volkswagen Golf GTi and Polo GTi.You also have Falcon GT, Alfa Romeo GT, Bentley Continental GT, Liberty GT, Porsche Carrera GT.that's all I can recall at the moment but I think you can see my point. Posted 13/03/06 04:49 AM Share Posted 13/03/06 04:49 AM Looks like bloody good first attempt at a turbo 4...er 5 from Ford Aust well worthy of the XR name, sure AWD would be better, a higher pressure turbo brining on more power up the rev range...but hey, it's a damn good start for the XR5

Now that's competitive and may even steal some waitlisted Golf GTi buyers.Heck - even I'm interested, particularly if Ford's national fleet discount is as generous as it id with Falcons!
