Regardless of what you believe, the fact is you dont need a turbo timer. It's not just ford who has come to this conclusion... it is a scientifically proven fact that the turbo will still create flow of water with the engine turned off.

Whether or not you need one is regardless. It makes me feel better knowing that I let my turbo cool down before I turn my car off. Its only my opinion anyway, I never said its the right opinion.

I just dont agree with switching off a component that is glowing from heat.

Driving around town,or just driving home from the shops,the thing wont be glowing,just did a few laps,well that's a differnt story,let it cool

Get in to the habbit,when you know you are near the end of your destination,take it easy

How much power loss for this case of Intercoolectic Bugtritus?

where the farrrk do u hang out or do in your spare time. this is my bugs in cooler. not as bad as yours but its all spaced out

Picked 'em up out around mid western NSW last year. I can tell you it took me many many hours to return everything to normal. Could smell roast grasshopper for weeks.

or have a think about whether you want to try and rescue folk trapped in it after a crash... with all that elec-trickery at seriously high voltage lying around in very large capacitors I'm having lots of second thoughts about it...

Same could be said for petrol cars, try rescuing someone from a crashed petrol car and think about how explosive petrol can be...

I'd imagine that there would be a isolation switch somewhere for the electro-hybrids, not to mention a way to safely earth all electrical systems first... and again the same thing could be said about normal cars in that the battaries in them can usually produce a few amps, all it takes is 100 milliamps (0.1 of an amp) to actually kill someone... Infact almost any electrical appliance used around the house has the potential to be leathal if something goes wrong...

I just find it a little amusing when I heard that you'd need to do nearly 800,000 km to break even on fuel costs compared to getting a same sized car in a petrol only version...

I think the market they are trying to attract isn't the fuel savers.

More so the poofs and greenies.

I have potentially the worst solution to improving fuel economy - but it does unfortunately work:

Monday - drive XR6T to work in mix of heavy and light traffic - making sure to accelerate like a mad man at every opportunity up to 109 km/h then changing into 6th gear (basically could change from 2nd to 6th) and engaging cruise control. Make sure that any acceleration opportunity is taken (even if this means changing lanes a lot).

Tuesday - let the guy up the road collect me in his SS commodore, allow him to drive like a nana all the way to work and back.

Wednesday - drive XR6T to work in mix of heavy and light traffic - making sure to accelerate like a mad man at every opportunity up to 109 km/h then changing into 6th gear (basically could change from 2nd to 6th) and engaging cruise control. Yes, petrol is explosive, yes petrol is flammable. But I can smell petrol, I can see petrol. I can tell if petrol is leaking... and I can see/feel the heat from burning petrol...

But I can't see electricity, the very large capacitors in hybrids contain massive charges and I would not where to look to find an isolation switch. Even if you turn the switch off, completing the circuit for a capacitor will probably kill you - providing I could find the switch and earth the systems... anyone carry a multimeter in their boot ? I carry an extinguiser though!
