You can replace the globes with the Philips +50 vision ones (or whatever they're called). This simple mod made one helluva difference for me and those globes are completely legal (just don't go for the silly blue tinted ones - they're nowhere near as bright, look silly and, most importantly, aren't legal!). Needless to say, the air filter has nothing to do with eliminating smells!! You may be confusing this with the pollen filter, but even that won't help much by the sounds of things. Easy enough to do, and makes the job of changing the bulb MUCH easier! Same with the airbox - quick job to remove that and makes life so much easier to remove and replace the bulb. Hell, it's so easy even I could do it! Oh yeah, and go the Philips +50 globes and you'll be a happy camper, at a fraction of the cost of xenons too. And did you replace low and high beams? I would be mainly interested in a low beam upgrade.

So yeah, I replaced both - figured I may as well if I was going to the trouble. But you're right, the main problem was my low beam, not very good at all - high beam was always okay (it's now brilliant!). Highly recommend this mod. This would account for extra noise.
