wow that's heaps. I looked up on www.redbook.com.au and it says city driving we get 15L/100k.

whats up with the different numbers

another thing I dont understand is that x L per 100k reading. when I press and hold the trip button, it beeps the numbers start changing, however when I change the trip reading to something else (av spd for example) and then change back to the L per 100k reading, it just sits on the one number

lol im pretty lost so any info would be much appreciated

When you hold the trip button and it beeps then you have reset the average l/100 reading. It will then change heaps as it is calculating an average over a very short period of time. As you drive further the changes become less dramatic and ultimately less frequent as it settles on a longer term average. My highway average is 10.5 - 11 and city is 14 - 16.

The distance to empty figure after you fill up is based on the average before you filled.

If I run the trip computer for a while past 0kms DTE then I can maybe squeeze in 62L.  That still leaves a few litres of fuel unutilised and means fueling up every 6 days rather than 7.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I recently ran the DTE down to 15kms but struggled to squeeze in 59 litres.

Does anyone know if the full 68 litres is usable or can you grind to a halt with a few litres still sloshing around in the tank?

2 more tips:

* Avoid drive thru Maccas or KFC, etc if possible. I

* 2ndly when starting dont bother idling for 30 seconds to warm up, its not necessary in my opinion (just dont flog your car till its warm).

I tried the fuel effeciency approach.......once and in my case the result of driving around like Ned Flanders over the course of a week saved me about $20 - $25..........F*ck that :tease:

It's like having a dirty weekend away with Angelina Jole and scrimping on condoms :spoton:

hi guys, ive just filled up my 2nd tank of gas with vortex premium. deciding to save money on fuel ive been driving my auto ba very carefully, keeping it shifting below 2k rpms so turbo doesnt kick in. I then remembered reading in the manual that it said the most fuel efficient speeds are between 60-100km/hr. just wanted to know how you guys have been driving, and whether the manuals right or wrong.

I found the most economic speed to be 81km/hr. Just when the overdrive kicks in. Boring but I had time to spare on a trip one day.

Travel with the cruise on the highway saves on fuel and speeding fines. Having the auto change under 2000 rpm could help but remember when yuor at 100klm/hr your at 2000 rpm anyway, unlike the NA version at 1750 rpm.

My worst 12.9/100, and the best over 520km was 9.85/100 on cruise.

I tend to agree with others that you don't buy a T and then look to save money on fuel, otherwise you would have bought the NA version.

I had a N/A BA XR6 before I got my T and the economy when on the open road is better with the T than the N/A.

Best out of T 620 k's to a tank.

Best out of N/A 580 k's

The N/A also cruised at 2000 rpm like the T it's the XT's and fairmonts etc that have the taller diff which gives the 1750 RPM at 100.

In the ute, I get down to say 20km to empty and still put in 65L and never been able to get more than 67L in there..... running on fumes at that stage....

I don't know if the tank size is different or maybe it's just in the hose routing between utes and sedans.....

No, same as every other car with front mount, you should see what builds up between them!

Just hose them out when you wash it.
