I then remembered reading in the manual that it said the most fuel efficient speeds are between 60-100km/hr. just wanted to know how you guys have been driving, and whether the manuals right or wrong.I found the most economic speed to be 81km/hr. Just when the overdrive kicks in. Boring but I had time to spare on a trip one day.Travel with the cruise on the highway saves on fuel and speeding fines. Having the auto change under 2000 rpm could help but remember when yuor at 100klm/hr your at 2000 rpm anyway, unlike the NA version at 1750 rpm.My worst 12.9/100, and the best over 520km was 9.85/100 on cruise.I tend to agree with others that you don't buy a T and then look to save money on fuel, otherwise you would have bought the NA version. Posted 17/01/06 02:05 AM Share Posted 17/01/06 02:05 AM The way I drive it is give it heaps and get it upto speed quickly... As funny as it seams I get better fuel eccon than driving softly because the car will continue to use fuel to get upto speed over a larger time span... (And most people will put their foot to far down on the go side anyway, so the "fuel eccon" value also goes very quickly)I have also found that unless you go on a long trip using normal unleaded gets me further on a tank than 95 or 98... (But you lose out on some preformance...) It's esspecially good as normal unleaded is cheaper... (Just don't expect your car to last as long) (PS I'm personally now run 98 rather than unleaded)

I thought that was pretty good sitting on 115 with cruise control on in 5th.

Don't use air-con (actually, remove that too). wind your windows up and if you have one, keep the sunroof closed. Pump your tyres up to 50psi.Use 1/8 throttle and make sure the car stays off boost. A lot of the time I'm looking for good fuel economy too, just makes sense. But of course there are plenty of times when it's just plain fun to access some of that power and then fuel economy cares fly out the window! I think it just boils down to common sense. Light throttle applications, no hard acceleration (or braking for that matter, unless you have to - remember that the T is a heavy car and carries a lot of momentum and you can lift off the throttle earlier and 'coast' more, especially in an auto), etc, etc.

Our suggestion is much better! :titwave:

I have tested the theory several times, running a full tank out while babying all the way, then another tank flooring it all the way... I dont see any difference in economy. I only see difference when I use ultimate instead of shell premo. If I use ultimate I'll only get 450 or less to a tank. If I use shell I get well over 500km to a tank.
