Occasionally in parking situations I get a sort of 'whorring' sound which I suspect is front brake-related. (very minor annoyance)

The lower outer rear window seals having noticeable gaps, poor flush finish. (cosmetic)

Both boot velcro bits for the petrol cap and boot release dont stick to the metal, havent since day one. (trivial)

Ive never liked the speedo and tacho design - the numbers and lines arent as distinct as they could be.

Roof design such that sun visors totally block view when used, ive never had this on other cars. (hardly ever an issue)

holy crap my car has only 13600 kays on it and my rears are wearing out too. Is this a consiracy. I blame Johnny Cash and the MC5. Oh and the Jewish Media Conspiracy. God bless LSD

But if this is ford's quality control at it's best they totally suck ass. At least we're better than american cars.

OK maybe a little of topic however there is a point to it

I was watching the movie Fight Club last night and there is a classic scene where Jack (Edward Norton) was saying that his job was a recall co-ordinator... He then went onto say that he applied "the formula, which was work out probable rate of failure A, times the number of units in the field B, times the average out of court settlement C. Now A x B x C = X and if X is the less than the cost of a recall we don't do one..."

The woman he was sitting next to then asked which car company he worked for, and his reply was "A major one"

Whilst this is a more extreem example (and yes I know it is a movie) I'd say it's probably pretty close to the mark of the mentality of the larger car companies...

Whilst I agree that when we are paying so much for a car (and let's face it, if we had just wanted to go from A to B we could have gotten a $13,990 buzz box, there would have been the same level of quality control) there should be higher standards of quality control, but the fact remains that the quality control ain't there, and it's right across the entire industry... I have seen ppl get really expensive euro's which have been complete lemons, and also seen that company tell them to get stuffed when they wanted the car repaired under warrenty...

This is just food for thought... And rather than complaining specifically about Xr6's lack of quality control the topic should be opened up to the car industries general lack of quality control... Why does the industry do it??? They want their cars to fail, to lose that new feeling, so that people get rid of their "old cars" and buy new ones frequently... Like everything now days cars are not built to last, they are built to survive the warrenty period for the least amount of cost to the manufacture...

Harvk Ford have been proven guilty of this in the worst kind over in the US!

They actually didn't recall cars knowing that the fault caused death & serious burn injuries & had calculated it cheaper to pay the compesation for the victims!!

Ford Pinto

then they've had this problem!

Ford Crown Victoris

Yes but it backfires when there are so many faults DURING the warranty period... its bound to cost them a penny or two

What you explain is EXACTLY the problems I'm having. Even down to the back left door not closing properly. Hell, even the drivers door sticks out a fair bit when closed.
