galconn Member 101 Member For: 19y 6m 14d Posted 06/01/06 10:36 AM Share Posted 06/01/06 10:36 AM I'm interested in gearbox noise as I do experience a bit of a growl when starting off in first gear and at low revs in 2nd and 3rd. Any clues as to what may be causing this noise? Lightning Strike, 6 speed, JB Signature 'Sandown' Exhaust, Induction and Suspension, K&N, Metal 'Cat', Rip-shifter. donza Member 63 Member For: 19y 9m 14d Posted 07/01/06 08:19 AM Author Share Posted 07/01/06 08:19 AM thanks guys for the information most helpful the noise I am getting from my gear box is first thing in the morning at start up it sounds as if the gear box is in pieces and when you start it up the pieces all come together again, noise from inside cab souds like a bearing loose engage clutch and noise stops, disengage and noise returns. first and second gear are a bit sticky and clunky until maybe after half an hour off driving. but noise from underneath car from gearbox is always there. If u take it for a drive and give it a bit and drive it a bit harder then normal the sound goes away! well not 100% . I also have the sound in 1st gear when taking off and 2nd and 3rd in low RPM. I have spoke to ford about it and they say it's nothing to get worried about and nothing is wrong with the box! it's the gears that's touching each other! (that's normal that's what the guy at ford told me) the car got 5300KM now!! don't think it will go away unless ford does something about it.Dal.
