Heya,

The other day a bloke in a HSV coupe 4 was able to effortlessly pull away in third from my ba II xr6t manual. I wasn't exactly launching it hard or flat shifting though. It made me wonder, if it was an all out drag how well the T would go.

Have you guys had any decent street kills against HSVs? STock or modified?

Ive twice lined up against Monaros (yes, I know theyre not HSV, but closeish in the price dept) and neither wanted to play....so disappointing. Hell, I dont even care if they beat me, but they didnt even want to give it a brief squirt.

there are too many variables with what your saying it could have been a heavily worked coupe 4, from what I have read in mags about them their not very quick.

Is your T modded? even if he gets half a second jump on you that's all it may need to seem it pulls away effortlessy.

I think from a standing start it would be a different story

It's possible that it was Rob Vikery's (owner of HPF) Coupe4. If this is correct it has a turbo and is running 330rwkw's and will beat most cars. I think his car is red and would be seen around Melbourne's east and southeast suburbs.

Geea.

Only seen a few Coupe4's,

But as was previously mentioned, they aren't that fast. Provided it wasn't modified you should have edged the HSV out.

I used to live on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, good friend of mine who is a Physiotherapist down their had a black 2001 HSV GTO, with the plated CLUBBN (from a Clubsport that was written off).

Black ute, Black HSV coupe, that's a kodak moment.

On one of my trips to catch up everyone, I lined my ute up against his GTO. I wasn't expecting to leave him for dead, but ended up a half a car length by the time we hit nearly 120kph.

I was

He's now ditched the GTO, tried an SS, wasnt happy with it and now has a XR8...and I'm heading down again soon to show him that after all this time he should have just went with an XR6T.

Slightly off-topic but a Monaro nonetheless... I was waiting to turn onto the Monash yesterday and there was a brank spanking new CV8 in front of me at the lights. When he gets the green he absolutely floors it and I follow him closely onto the on-ramp and as we reached close to 100 klicks he backs off quite considerably and looking into his rear-view mirror... he probably thought I was a copper as I was wearing a blue shirt, but when I pulled up beside him on the freeway, he then realised I wasn't and tried to plant it - the next look he gave me was even funnier when I overtook him too easily... I suppose it doesn't help that he was a fat bas*ard which probably added another 250 kegs to the kerb weight of the car...
