the Z and RX8 could definitely handle more power that's for sure, awesome chassis's begging for more...

I was lucky enough to drive an APS TT equipped Z and that's how the friggen car should have come from the factory..

it was conservatively tuned for 260rwkw up from about 170odd stock, and was such a nice car to drive.. I was considering the kit very seriously for my Z, except for the warranty spontaneously combusting and the $16K pricetag!!

We're talking stock NA rotary vs stock Turbo 6 aren't we????

No come & see the the Qld Championship at QR at the end of Feb & you'll see NA peripheral ported Rotaries against restricted Turbos. I'll even arrange a ticket for you!

Then you'll understand!!!

A restricted WRX will climb 2 rows against rotaries off the line, imagine what it'd do without a restictor!!!

I think you will find that you are also comparing nearly 30yr old technology with something a little more up to date with a 4WD turbo car just off the line. I haven't bothered porting a N/A rotor in over 10yrs. But that's a little off topic.

At a track such as Morgan Park which I'm sure you have been to I would back the RX8 against the stock T anyday. On a track with bigger straights like QR or even good old Lakeside, it would be closer until the T ran out of brakes, particularly if a series 1.

For straight line squirts I would pick the T anyday especially with an edit.

I wouldn't back the T against any of the light jap cars on a track, especially a Subaru.

But seeing as we're talking launching off the line as the original question is about (I'm not sure why people keep taking it off topic, like around MP or turbo rotary etc etc.) I thought I'd use a worked rotary against a turbo piston driven car as a referance! Even turbo 2wd cars launch better than the rotaries in Improved Production.

My point still stands & is true, a rotary has the problem of having the power come on high in the rev range which limits it's ability to launch off the line compared to piston driven engines, especially high output turbo 6 cylinders which hit max torque at 2000 RPM.
