you can get a supercharger kit for the rx8 for approx 10K fitted. Increases power to 203rwkw. Rotormaster are now developing the stage 2 kit which will be around 300rwkw. You can pick up a 2003 model now for low 40s so around 55K will have you a porsche munching machine.

I have spent a fair bit of time in both an XR6T (mine) before and after edit and an RX8 (Brothers). Assuming similiar ability between the drivers the XR6T will do the RX8 in a straight line by enough stock and by a heap with an edit. Start putting some corners into the equation and the RX8 will eat the T without a problem in the world. It handles so much better than the T. As for launching a rotor, my old Series 3 with a Series 5 13BT with the usual addons launched harder than my over lardy XR6T ever will. Go to the Jamboree at Willowbank one year and have a look at how hard a well set up and driven rotor can run.

Meh, or you could do what most Japanese garages suggest and put in a 13btt from a series 8 rx7. It doesn't exactly bolt in, but you have far more options and bolt ons that way to make serious power, a lot cheaper. RX7 was a total jocks car in Japan for megarich brats anyway, so I can imagine a few wanted to be the first on the block to have a megafast rx8.

Would be very interested to see a supercharged renesis could do though.

Mate, the original question is stock for stock and is not that simple. Sure, my modded F6 will smash one but that is not the question either.

Actually, what was stated was:

Currently his car has a short-shifter kit,unichip,cat-back exhaust and cai.

So that implies his stock T versus the modified RX8.

We're talking stock NA rotary vs stock Turbo 6 aren't we????

No come & see the the Qld Championship at QR at the end of Feb & you'll see NA peripheral ported Rotaries against restricted Turbos. I'll even arrange a ticket for you!

Then you'll understand!!!

A restricted WRX will climb 2 rows against rotaries off the line, imagine what it'd do without a restictor!!!

There's no XR6 etc that can compete on power to weight with a restictor in Improved Production, they're just too heavy & can only punch out so much HP.

the problem with the rotaries is they have to have high revs to launch, which means wheel spin or clutch slip on road tyres, Drag tyres are a different kettle of fish as the tyre will bag up/absorb the energy.

the rx8s are not fast PERIOD!! Go onto the rx8 forum and see what they all complain about- lack of torque and power. They are crying on that forum for forced induction.

But non of them are complaining about handling.

I agree with rohan, they are not fast.. I tested one back to back with a 350Z and the Z destroyed it in every aspect, well IMO anyway.. the RX8 felt more delicate and feminine and was in no way a bad car but the Z was more grunty and a lot more fun to drive..

the phoon is another league above the Z so id say a T would still be above the RX8 as well.

Japan are kind of in a rock in a hard place at the moment, so your comparison is harsh but fair. Both those J cars are in dire need of turbos. Trust engineers aparently reported that it couldn't have been easier to bolt two turbos on the 350z. But emission regs meant that died in the arse for Nissan.

The phoon is so good because we're 15 years behind Japan! But that's a good thing. But let's face it man, what other country in the world is making a full size family sedan, RWD, 4 litre, inline 6 turbo? It's in a class of it's own and in a lot of ways, it's not fair to compare it to any sports car!
