Mate of mine has a RX8 Mazda manual and I have an auto xr6t BA.

Questions I have if both cars are stock;

1. Who is quicker from a standing start off a set of lights.

2. Quarter mile

3. 0-100km/hr.

My car has 1300kms on it and he was behind me and we both gassed it and he kept up until I hit about 5000rpm then I pulled away (he reckons he backed off).

Then when I get the Nizpro stage 1 which should get me around 270rwkw how would my car compare to his?.Currently his car has a short-shifter kit,unichip,cat-back exhaust and cai. All in the name of bragging rights!!!.

IMHO you have the outright torque he doesn't to always beat him in 3rd gear. Especailly if he has a passsenger, or say, 2 potatos as luggage. Put corners into the equation and the RX8 owns though with its significantly reduced kerb weight.

Ages ago, on mccr.com there was a similar thing about an S2000 versus a Clubsandwich, I mean, Clubsport. In a straight line, most people ended up saying they were evenly matched from memory.

I had a sprint againt a HSV coupe 4 last night. That was surprisingly fast.

Silverman, your T will waste a little RX8 once you get the edit done.

How are those RX8 factory wheels I wish they'll fit a BA.

Yeah those rx8 wheels are nice although he is looking at changing them.

I am hoping with the nizpro edit, injectors, valve springs and custom tune I can smoke him.

You should dust him off the line as rotaries don't launch too well & max torque doesn't come on until 5500 RPM.

From all reports stock standard they do 15.3 sec qtr mile!

I'll get some footage of a mates STI WRX racing in Improved Production, as he jumps 2 rows off the start against rotaries. It's bloody amazing how slow rotaries are off the line, as the power range is at high revs & they tend to wheel spin instead of gripping & going!

I was driving home from a Christmas do late at night not long ago and this guy in a black RX8 sped past but got stopped at the next set of lights. He had one passenger as did I. Speed limit was approx 100 on this dragstrip.

Now this is the good part - the car I was driving was my work ute which is a BA XLS ute 182kw auto :sleepystuff:

I was bored at that hour and he was carrying on revving the little thing with his fully sik girlfriend and his fully sik custom plates which allude me for now, but anyway I have never really respected or liked the RX8's so I thought why not :sleepystuff:

When the private lights went green, I just left the auto in Perf. mode and floored it. Initally pulled about 3-4 carlengths and then maintained this gap all the way to the speed limit. Ended up having 4 runs with the same result each time. Oh and he was trying in a big way as you could this thing screaming and at the end of the fourth run he got so frustrated he started tailgaiting me. :sleepystuff:

Moral of the story is that if my N/A work ute can beat one of these things a T will eat it up and spit it out at half throttle.

BS mate :sleepystuff: .

My wife has an RX8 with only around 4k on it now. Bring your work ute around and I will prove they ain't that slow in a straight line. I have no doubt that they run a low 14. It's amazing what revving the thing to damn near 9000rpm and then dumping the clutch does.........and it is not as brutal as it sounds they have that much grip. In gear acceleration it not that bad either it's just that they have no torque. Point the thing at a corner and bye bye anything trying to follow it (bar some expensive cars).

Stock for stock, an auto T properly driven (stalled up) against a RX8 properly driven will be very, very close and I am prepared to use my wife's RX8 against anyone in Brisbane to find out????? :sleepystuff:

There in lies the truth. Still think torque will win though. God forbid it was an auto RX8 then the Xr6t will eat its arse!
