I agree with what the article said, but it leaves the door open for both Motor and Wheels to do nothing but heap praise on a new car from GM, if it's good enough. Very typical for a magazine to give a car a hard time when it's reaching the end of it's cycle, knowing a new platform is just around the corner.

Bloody great to see Ford making such a successful comeback after the AU.

Now, if only FPV would release a BF V8 or turboed 6 with 300rkw. That would really sink the boot into Holden/HSV.

Spot on. It's all about selling magazines by playing Ford against Holden, and Motor and Wheels have set it up beautifully to bring in the VE next year. They'll have the Holden-loyal readership that fired up now they will sell magazines by the boot-load when the new model is released to great acclaim and hype... unless GM really stuff it up, which I doubt :spoton:

Motor will give the HSV a crown.....

They are owned by GMH and fairfax anyway.,

                      Add Edit and CAI

0-100 FPV 6.3  0-100 FPV 5.0

0-100 R8  5.9

0-400 FPV 14.3 0-400 FPV 13.5 :hrmm:

The FPV got 4 stars while the HSV got only 3

The final comment was?

"Theres no doubt the FPV is better :spoton: . Both cars fairly claim punishing blows, but the decision on points must go to FPV. HSV's Z series is a great engine surrounded by an aging package, so it's no surprise that the FPV feels at least one generation ahead in its handling and refinement.

It seems that while Expensive Daewoo and HSV have been scraping and cost cutting Ford and FPV have been charging ahead.

In the Jan Wheels mag there is a comparo between the BF FPV and the HSV R8 Clubsport  as well as another between the BF XR8 and the latest Expensive Daewoo SS revamp named the SSZ.

Times are as follows for the HSV and the FPV

0-100 FPV 6.3

0-100 R8  5.9

0-400 FPV 14.3

0-400 R8  13.9

The FPV got 4 stars while the HSV got only 3

The final comment was?

The Holdens clear performance advantage will be some consolation to the brands many followers. But the Ford proves that on the road, as well as the bloodied battleground, raw firepower isn't always the deciding factor.

Then there is the comparo between the SSZ Commodoare and the BF XR8. The XR8 beats the SSZ in all categories, the times are thus:

XR8 0-100 6.3

SSZ 0-100 6.8

XR8 400m 14.4

SSZ 400m 14.8

The XR8 gets 4 stars and the SSZ (although Expensive Daewoo have loaded it with everything for free bar the kitchen sink) gets 3 stars. Perhaps the best quote to the comparo was this;

IT'S THE XR8 THAT STANDS DEMONSTRATABLY AHEAD FOR ALL-ROUND POLISH AND REFINEMENT.

Fancy that! The XR8 runs away from the SS and is nearly as quick as the GT :blush:

I think HSV and Expensive Daewoo are going to find themslves up siht creek without a paddle, and considering GMs global and un-repayable technical bankruptcy. It's fair to wonder how long it will be before Elizabeth becomes a robot assembly plant for imported Daewoo tear down packs :hrmm:  :k24t: Oh goodnes the cost of resting on your laurels and convincing a relatively ignorant buying public that you can make an exclusive and unbeatable performance car.

Me I'm laughing my head off, only ever owned one HSV and to me it will always mean Horrible Sh!t Vehicle

Seems that the GT has gotten slower but great to see that ford are doing so well.

You have to remember that the MKII GT ran a 13.9 which was a manual and the Auto ran a 14.4 and the BF GT is also an auto and ran a 14.3 so its actually quicker and just remember this is the same magazine that ran a 14.8 for the XR6T :spoton: I think you'll find motor mag will run this car in the 13's :spoton:

I too have seen many SV8,SS,HSV Clubbies running the same mods as Dboss and running low to mid 12 sec passes. :blink:

The LS1 V8 is still the V8 king as mods go :blink:
