You musn't have heard about Australia's Best Muscle Car EVER

Besides by my calculations show you have lost about 35,000 a year on an M5.

Kinda a big hit if ya ask me

'Australias Best Muscle Car EVER' eh....

So it's better than a 30 year old Falcon with a big engine and no brakes.........

Woot.

Hell the M5 looks brilliant to my eyes and sounds even better, amazing power from the V10 and all those gadgets & computer tweaking would have me in auto heaven, I'd spend more time sitting in the garage playing than driving and that's what you call a power button 400bhp to 507bhp with a single press, oh my god!!!

Still I couldn't justify the $$$'s, it would be a dream car to own in the garage, as would a Typhoon, another killer machine.

phhh M5 shmem5

Cobra - 0-100 in 3.5 seconds! I would like to see an M5 beat my Cobra around a race track. 700hp and 100kgs.

My Xr6T is the tow car - fast enough for that, and great to drive every day.

With the change I could also have an old Lotus and a used Porsche 911.

The M5 is a great car, but as all things go - the prices increase exponentially, that is normal and to be expected. The people who buy that kind of car wouldnt but it if it was cheaper (eg as cheap as the F6) as they want more exclusivity.

I think the comparison between an F6 and an M5 is valid - it shows just what a good car Ford has made for the money. I would go as far with the Xr6T, as the difference between them and an F6 is not vast for every day use. But I also agree that the comparison is theoretical, as most of the buyers are different for each car.

The M5 is undoubtedly better engineered than the F6, XR6T and my Cobra - but it is boring to look at, and has typical German flair - ie none. I think the Falcons are a nice looking car from every angle.

I think the only parallel you can draw between the two cars is that they both have similar performance in a straight line, but that’s where it stops.

Build quality, technology levels, and safety in the BMW would leave the blue oval product well behind.

If in the year 2015 you have the choice between a 2005 M5 and a F6, I think your choice would be very simple! (the M5 would almost certainly still start)
