It would be interesting to test the new F6 auto in 0-100 and 1/4 times. If you stall up the F6 to 1800rpm and let it go, I would bet low 5's and low 13's.

If you were to edit the F6 only then I think you would see mid 4's and mid 12's.

The biggest problem with comparing the F6 & M5 is one is a technological supercar (M5) the other is a grunty beast (F6).

I know a M5 would hose a F6 if both standard, but you need to put the whole scenario into context.

The M5 is a highly tuned supercar that is designed and engeneered to perform. The F6 is a Taxi with a huge potential HP motor and a great new gearbox. To spend $10k on a F6 doing Edit, suspension and tyres would give a M5 a run for its money. The Edited F6 would match the M5's 370kw, they have about the same weight, and the suspension on the BA/BF is very good with the IRS. If you got the optional Brembo's I think the F6 would also come close to outbraking a M5.

The twisty bits would require some R&D to get the F6 to handle anywhere near as good as a M5, but I think with a properly setup system it would be close.

With the tyres, if you spent some $$'s on a good set of Michillen Pilot Sport 2's you would have a complete package.

When I Mentioned a comparison between the F6 and the M5, I did not want it to turn in to a bickering match as I had really spent a lot of time in looking at what I wanted and why.

The M5 is an engineering masterpiece with so many gizmo's and gimmicks. When reading the sales brochure, the M5 will lightly apply the brakes when its raining to keep the disks dry, this is where a lot of the money for the car is, engineering.

I would certanly swap a F6 for a M5 if given a choice, but I could not justify spending the extra money.

Guys, I'll tell ya now, I'm so bloody paranoid about driving a $47K T let alone anything worth more $$$'s. I'm spending a good 2 mins after each park checking my baby for nicks and scratches, eyes bulging out of my head when a hoon flys by in the off chance they might collect a panel on the way through.

I'm as happy as larry with my T and although the phoon's look like a beast which some day I would love to own, an M5 is just in my opinion a ridiculous amount of cash to spend on a car - though I love it's engineering and styling, simply awesome.

However if I had a spare $250 grand floating around which I didn't need, I would probably go and buy a Dodge Viper which has notoriously bad handling and a savage V10 engine which I'd probably end my life in but that would be my choice, it's got bigger balls than I'll ever have.

So whatever rocks your world, go for it, forget trying to compare apples to oranges... just get in the damn thing and enjoy!!

For those who thing you can just spend some money on the F6 and "hose" an M5 - your'e living in fantasy land.

Us or you!

Buy the F6  and aspire to own an M5. clear.

Bit up yourself and not everybody aspire's to own a M5 far from it.

:thumbsup::gooff:

Certainly not me.. If I had another $195,000 above what I paid for the F6, I would probably be buying another 4, F6's right now.... That would give me 5 F6's for the price of 1 M5.... Hmmmm..... Never been accussed of being a genius but the maths kinda work in favour of the Typhoon for me...........

My only problem with buying 4 f6s for the price of an M5 is why? You can only drive one at once last time I looked. You can buy three Excels for the cost of an F6....Now theres an offer.

All I am saying is value is subjective. When the new M5 is 150k cheaper and seconds faster than a 430 Ferriari then its good value isn it? After all that's the market , not the F6.

Its great the F6 is a fast car. And its great value but the guy who can really afford an M5 isnt really looking at a F6. He's looking at a Merc E55 or a RS4 Audi. that's what he is comparing it to.

Ask the BMW salesman what he has to compete with when he is selling an M5 to osmeone. Fords name doesn't coime up, nor Holden. I asked my guy (who has sold BMW for 11 years, how he deals with "well ZYZ is better value?. He said he goes on the companies track record and after sales serivce and offers testimonials and offers extended drives.

Lets please give up on its "Crap value because I can buy 4 F6's..." you can apply that one to any purchase let alone an M5.

Personal view is EVERYTHING when you by a car...

It can go harder than a spaceship but if it looks crap to you then you wont care.

Each person is different and arguing over it wont fix it, in my personal opinion you wont catch me dead in an M5, its ugly, has an air of "look at me how much more important am I than you" about it, I can buy a house and an F6 for god sake, life has more important things than blowing half a lifetimes's wages on it...

But then, Im glad that the BMW salesman said Ford doesnt come in, can you imagine these overzelous w*kers trying to be bigger than everyone else without throwing cash about... impossible...

So I say let'm have it, what the hell, Ill just look over and say that's not bad then just enjoy the next corner I take in my own little way, not what the car's computer kicks in and says I should be doing without having to type in to the computer what type of bug I went over with the rear tyre so it will let me wheel spin. :spoton:

The photo is an M5 that has been off the road....its a very safe car. Zap - I am glad you feel the F6 is better value. Its not hard setting it up for a serious launch. And BTW you don't have to let it cool down unless you have done 25 lauches in a row.

BTW an M5 driver isn't really interested in the traffic light derby. To this day I have never dragged anyone from the lights. I am just not interested. If I wanted to do that, I would buy something else.  If the issue is cost then your better off with the Falcon. The tyres are the price they are because they are good and offer a grip level very close to a competition tyre.

Ford Australia engineers had unlimited access to one of the most potent computer resources in the world.

"Our designers have dedicated access to some of the 20-plus supercomputers at Ford's Dearborn headquarters, which means we can crunch our safety data on Ford's Michigan supercomputers overnight. If you tried to run one of our crash models on your average home computer you would need to wait 236 years for the answer," Mr Priddle said.

Just a shame they didn't use any of it to make sure the brakes didnt shudder or have any driveline snatch or reliabliity issues. If they did I would still have one and so would many others who have left the board over the last two years. After all they own Aston and a chunk of Mazda - you would thing they would all have lunch one day and share a few ideas.........

Look most car makers have access to the best gear. At the price of the Falcon you just not going to get it used that's all. uo may not see a 180k difference and that's OK - This is usually the view of thise that cannot afford them. andf that's not critisism BTW. Its just that we form our views generally around aour wallet.

And BTW when you take in your BMW for a service they don't say "that's normal mate they all do that" they say, sir your drive car is in bay 16.....now that is worth 180k to me anyday................without asking!

Cheers

Dallas

I cannot understand this comparison, the M5 is a great car, the F6 is also an awesome car but with a price difference of $160,000 you cannot have a fair comparison there is the never ending list of things you could do to the F6 with the spare 160,000 that would blow away the M5, but I bet if you gave me a F6 with the money difference between that and a Ferari Enzo I could get it close to that aswell...

Both great cars, both differn't markets, but on a head on comparo the F6 kicks it's Butt, as has been mentioned before, a F6 with $15,000 spent on it would hose an M5 and you have alot of spare change over the M5.

How about we get DallasQld to line up a Modded F6 that is in his state at willowbank or the middle of nowhere for all I care and see who wins, evan still if I had a F6 that stayed within 2-3 car lengths of an M5 I would feel like the winner knowing I had spent 150+ grand less

A F6 with 400rwkw would hose a M5 in a straight line.

I was very dissapointed with the M5 as an overall package.  For the $245k+ they ask for them, is a joke.

If you spent $50k on a F6, you would beat a M5 even around a track.

I also think the interior looks better in the F6 as there is no I-Drive and more buttons.

ZAPF6 I couldnt put it better myself well said. There is no comparisement in value, power and looks.Yes the M5 might be more on the prestige and classy side but end of the day which would be more fun to drive with 400RWKW.F6 all the bro :spoton::blaah:
