After much swearing and head shaking, we got the sender unit out of the tank to find a 9 month old Walbro pump with a nice little MUD PILLOW attached to one end of it. In tank filter was chockers full of crap, and the pump was totally seized!!!Dave, (the mechanic) said it was the dirtiest filter he has ever seen in 17yrs, for a 15 month old car, and also agreed ANY fuel pump would have failed under the fuel conditions.I will post some pics when I get sorted and get it going again. We both rang everywhere we knew that may have a walbro fuel pump, there is NONE in Canberra what so ever, Tried ringing C+V in Sydney, MRT performance, HPF, all were closed, as expected. Ended up getting one from somewhere in Melb (im not sure, but Dave has dealt with them a bit!) put in an overnight bag and should be here tomorrow at lunchtime, so hopefully I can get it going before the weekend! So here I am, stuck in Goulburn for another night, with a huge repair bill all thanks to VORTEX 98 bought at CALTEX BRADDON, ACT. dont ever buy anything from there!Im going to send the filter and a copy of all of my fuel reciepts to Caltex and see if they can subsidize the repairs, since I have used the fuel from one pump at one servo 97% of the entire life of the car, and find it hard to believe that much damage could be done from the other 3%.Hey Danno,Send them the complete bill, they will knock it back the first two times but the third they will send you a letter and a cheque saying that they can find no contamination at the site but they will by the bill in goodwill. You would be surprised how much contaminated fuel there is out there!Send me a pm and I'll give you the drill mateChooka Edited 29/12/05 08:56 PM by Chooka Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/22156-having-a-bad-day/page/3/#findComment-328933 Share on other sites

The in line fuel filter was changed just 2500km ago, it had a fair bit of gunk in it but nothing like I saw yesterday. Im gunna get another one today anyway, fix the lot so I can drive the thing knowing there is no trace of the problem in the system anymore.I dont think there would be enough crap in the tank to call it sabotage though. Just consistantly poor fuel. I dont think it would happen with one bad load of fuel. The tank has been cleaned totally, since we went to all the trouble of getting it out. Hopefully my pump gets to the thriving metropolis of Goulburn today, So I can start my holidays tomorrow with an 8 hr drive to Lightning Ridge (far north NSW) to visit my folks for new years.Fingers crossed.
