And the question of shift quality is being raised.I'm sure you have driven a Ford T56 verus your Mal Wood T56. Is there any difference in the shift quality between the two transmissions? Im not stirring but how is 1st now with the t56?? Do you feel any need to convert to the 3.73?The 3.73 would be better in 1st & reverse which I'm looking into once I can raise a few $$. I'm not using it much at the moment so it can wait. But at least I can stick the foot into it without worrying about damage.Muzza Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/22139-t56-6-speed-fitted/page/3/#findComment-328521 Share on other sites

It is not listed specifically for the XR6 Turbo, but it is a T56 used in the Mustangs. If you wanted more info on the gearbox, the part number is M-7003-F. Go to this link, www.fordracingparts.com and type in the part number as it is written and it will give you all the gear ratios and other specs. Cost of the unit is $4635 inc GST. If you were to go the mustang box avoid the stuffing around & ring Mal Wood as he has done the hard work to make them fit.Muzza Edited 03/01/06 03:48 AM by Muzza Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/22139-t56-6-speed-fitted/page/3/#findComment-330343 Share on other sites

k31th less WHY; more WOT Site Developer 29,430 Member For: 17y 14d Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 06/01/18 09:51 AM Share Posted 06/01/18 09:51 AM You can use either a T56 (B-series) or TR6060 (F-series) bellhousing as both fit both F and B series 6cyl engines (I'm not sure if the TR6060 bellhousing bolts to a T56, but I'm pressure sure it does...) . The difference on the outside of the gearbox is the shifter positioning. I don't think you'd be able to use a T56 easily in an FG, as the shifter would be in the wrong position and require custom fabrication to solve the problem. Get a TR6060 if you need a gearbox for an FG.
