Replace all springs it is the exhaust that struggle due to the heat biuld up.

any one that just does one side is kidding them selves and ripping you off as they are the same springs inlet to exhaust.

McInerney Ford in Perth will only use the GT inlet valve springs for the valve spring upgrade on the XR6T's.

So what is the price difference between XR8/GT valve springs and aftermarket ones such as Nizpro? Nizpro are $288 + fitting.

Is there any difference between XR8 and GT springs?

Which type are better (Ford Boss vs aftermarket)?

GT springs are too tall to be fitted to T's without some physical relief to the head itself, which means heads off time. They are different springs inlet to exhaust in height and tension. They will coil bind on a t if not fitted right.

XR8's run the same springs inlet to exhaust like T's, their springs have less coils and are shorter, but when compressed offer greater compression when valve open (about 30lbs), while having slightly less (about 8lbs) with the valve shut. They offer a 100 thou clearance or about 40 thou if you were to shim them up so as they had the same pressure with valve shut as a stock spring.

All this testing I did on a spring testing rig 18 months ago for fitment to my series 1 T, which I've done with Goldie's help and have about 20,000k's of my driving on them.

From what I read in threads on the Nizpro site I believe their springs would be better. Threads on the Nizpro site from Simon state that the V8 springs are close to spring bind and that is why Nizpro had their own springs made. These are a stronger spring but cannot be compressed to cause spring bind.

Of course they would say that. Funny thing is, Ford are fitting GT inlet valve springs as an upgrade to the XR6T and provide warranty for parts and labour. So who's right and who's wrong about the coil bind?

Speaking of Nizpro's site (and I'm not having a go at them), I read I should be running the Stage 2 - 3 Cobra kit according to their Power Upgrade section, to achieve the power I'm running with the factory manifolding.

Don't believe everything you're told.

Are Ford supplying and fitting GT springs because they want to?

Is it a recall?

Where can we get it done for free under warranty?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Sorry?

Ford supply and fit GT springs to GT's.

There is no recall as far as im aware.

You will only get it done free under warranty if your factory fitted valve springs fail under due course.

The modded guys are experiencing valve float. But this is modded cars only.
