Does anyone know what exactly is required extra to fit a towbar to a BA with reverse sensors?

Ford will sell me a towbar complete with the wiring loom/plug for $170 but want an extra $90 for the "extra reverse sensors items" (whatever this is).

Does anyone have the part numbers at all?

It's to disable the reverse sensors when reversing. Apart from it beeping constantly while reversing with a trailer, it aint going to cause you much drama. For my money, I'd do what you're doing and rig a relay to cut off the beepedy beep speaker when the trailer plug is in place.

Or if you wanted to get a bit trickier - get some reverse sensors and fit them to the trailer to take over from the car ones when hitched up - they would be more useful then.

You could also just reverse back until the trailer hits something, then go forward a bit. :msm:

Shouldn't matter if you damage the trailer....

agreed - as long as your race car/boat/etc doesnt overhang the trailer.

Works the same - just a different noise when you have backed far enough.

As a casual user of a towbar I take it off when not in use, and insert the cover.  Unlike the people who leave them on as a parking aid, rear mini bullbar and shin breaker.  Now there's a thought do those people also have their fog lights on all the time??

I'm certainly glad I left mine on. The other day I was at the servo filling up, when a stupid chick in a hyundai banged in to the back of my car, thanks to the towbar there was zero damage to mine, but scared the :spoton: out of me as I didnt see her coming and my car jolted forward. Dumb b**ch said she was try to reach the bowser :beerchug:

Guys,

I am tring to fit a towbar, but what the :Welcome2FordXR6t: do you use to get those plastic plugs off. They have a cross in the top which implies a phillips head, but they dont work. They are in the rear guards and in the middle bottom of the bumper.

How do you get them off without braking them???

They are pricks to get out, I usually use a jewellers screwdriver to pull the centre (where the phillips is) out, once this is out pull the whole thing out.

Cheers, I'll give that a go. I have been trying to move the whole plug - I didnt realise just the centre bit comes out.
