$498 for the core, $165 for the mobo, $359 for the ram.

The rest you can get cheaper, but with the router ( $174 ) and LCD, around $2200 for what I got.

I could have gone PCI-e, but I wanted a 7800GTX. With a decent SLI mobo, it would have topped out well over $3k.

Oh and how much did you pay for a SATA HDD im thinking a power load of cash.

What???? SATA is usually only a couple of bucks more over PATA but definitely gives more performance

And F6 UTE - I too have jsut been upgraded to the 24mb connection, you will have to PM me some details of all the WAIX sites and FTP sites you use since ive been off broadband for a loooooooong time !!!

I run a duel core amd with 2 gig of ram.

got a 200gig sata hd which was cheap as chips.

the whole lot runs really well and is about 100 times faster than the computers that I use at work. :stirthepot:

Well I'm currently pullih down a couple of things @ 400k/s. Not too shabby..

General downloads ( drivers etc ) are finished b4 the speed kicks in. Usually gets to 800k/s and by that time the dload has finished..

Unrar'd 400Mb ( 15Mb files ) this morning. It took 4 seconds!!!!!!

I'll unrar a dvd in the arvo, see how that goes..

Might have to upgrade to the 40/40 plan ;^)

iinet has no 'free' net traffic, even on the WAIX, pretty poor. Westnet lets you though..

I just did some 5 min tweaking...

I upped the boost a bit which caused it to lean out a bit and ping a touch.. I added some more fuel to her and she really started to drive nicely.

I am still running the stock 'cooler so I have a very concervative overclock atmo. Maybe a bigger 'cooler and some practice b4 I dabble some more.

Anyhoo. I managed to squeeze a stable 12,872 3D Mark '03 points from her. I haven't touched the memory or gone mad with any of the timings/voltages.

3D mark '05 is over the 5000 points..

These cores wil go to 2.4Mhz easily, mines sitting at a lowly 2.14Mhz.

My april 05 build, Pentium 3.4 LGA775, 1GB ram, 6600GT video with heat sink only. twin pioneer 109 burners.

that's the orignal specs, installed a 2nd exhaust fan due to the video running hot, duel exhausts. Because the heat sink on the fan let all the heat rise to the CPU area.

Had to take it back to the dealer 3 times to get the same fault fixed, sounds like a ford dealer. On the 3rd try they found a faulty ingnition wire from the HD to the MB. Running well since.

The engine cooling system became noisy, a constant background humm. Installed a Scythe Samuria Z cooler on the engine. This has the main cooler and an intercooler at the top. I haven't tested it under load yet, but it is quiet.
