I am the proud new owner of a auto xr6t. I just love this thing. This thing goes like the clappers and I can only imagine what the modded t's goes like.Already starting to plan a phase kit.Need the car for work so dependability is crucial so I am looking at a phase 1, or phase 11 tops .Do you need to upgrade the auto etc. for phase 11 ??

How many kms do you suggest to run it in before doing any mods eg.aps phase 1 or phase 11.??? Anyway enough of this,I am going for a drive.

Glad to be part of the "family".

cheers

Silverman

Congrats Silverman, glad you're enjoying your new toy. Without trying to sound like a w@nker, it's funny reading about guys getting behind T's for the first time and being so blown away by the power. I was exactly the same when I first got mine - but now, even though I've 'only' got Edit (no other performance mods apart from a CAI), going back to the factory map really feels soooo slow!! :fool:

I can only imagine what the cars with 300+rwkw must feel like to drive. :fool::msm:

Good luck with the car and the mods! :msm:

I picked up my BF XR6T in a 6spd manual - and although it pulls pretty hard the torque seems to climb so gradually that you don't feel the boost at all.

I came from an R32 Skyline which would noticably pin you to the seat at 5000rpm, the XR6T just doesn't feel like that - although both actually accelerate about the same the Falcon is just so much smoother and with ESP almost impossible to loose around a corner (unlike a Skyline).

Maybe with a Phase 2 kit the pinned to the seat feeling returns...

As to when to mod - I would recommend you at least get to the 3000km inspection before doing anything - incase there are some engine dramas, it would be nice for them to be covered under warranty.

Mate I would suggest at least a tranny cooler and a shift mod switch at least for Phase 2 upgrade but you will eventually need to toughen the auto up.

I got about 30000kms out of my auto @ 300rwkw before it started to slip into 2nd gear.I would recommend uping the converter to as this takes a bit of the torque out of the box if you are in the higer gears. :fool:

Have fun :msm:

I had a R33 skyline before the T and I can tell you that a stock R32 wouldnt come near it.My R33 had Pod filter, turbo back exhaust, cooler and 10 psi tune and I still got dusted by a stock T.Made me want to buy one.

I know what your saying about the in your seat feeling that you get in other turbo buzz boxes compared to the T but the T pulls very smooth compared to my old R33 which felt quick but was lucky to run a low 14 sec pass. :spoton:

If your r33 with the above mentioned modes was lucky to run a low 14 qtr, there was something seriously wrong with it, when I first got mine 100% stock I got a 14.6.

Just out of curiosity I'm assuming your talking about an R33 GTS and not a GTR ?

Robbie.
