Hi all

Put the car on a dyno today to check out whats up after running consistent 14s at Motorplex regardless of which tune I was running. Fastest run that night was with Factory Tune (14.1).

Green Line: 8psi CAPA Tune - 320.5 rwhp

Blue Line: 10psi CAPA Tune - 310 rwhp

Red Line: Factory Tune - 303 rwhp

03 Manual T. 2nd CAI and K&N, Ultimate 98.

Looks like the 10 psi tune aint getting anywhere near 10 psi and you can see the surging. Wastegate actuator perhaps?

I know I need a custom tune and will get one as soon as the SCT software has data logging capability, but is it possible the car could have this much power with its factory tune?

Terry at MCE said its the highest run he's seen a standard boost T do.

Any comments or interpretations?

Thanks

Mark

That looks pretty much identical to what I experienced.

After loading my CAPA Generic 10psi tune I couldn't hardly notice any difference when driving it. It did make a few different sounds from the BOV but that was it.

A while ago I had my stock Mk1 (T5) on the dyno at Genie and it showed 298 rwhp.

After loading the 10psi tune, I put it on the dyno at D&T in Wangara and it only showed 195 rwkw. Jason (M6 XR6T) spent all of two minutes changing a few parameters on the CAPA tune and all of a sudden it was making 245rwkw. This is still not ideal, I am sure that a proper custom tune would be a lot better but at least I can certainly notice a difference when driving now. The mid range is a lot stronger and it really likes to rev now (pitty I didn't have this done before the last cruise)!

Anyway, I am sure that you will be much happier once you have a proper custom tune done. I plan on doing it as soon as I get some injectors.

The current generation of Generic tunes are MUCH better than that. Looks like its bouncing off the overboost limiter. Food for thought.

I was sure that Jason said he had the latest Generic Tunes from CAPA when he did mine, could be wrong though!
