I see heaps of them around with the big exhausts and I was wondering just how fast are they and should I be worried of having my doors blown off? Cheers. Had a few other mods but forget those figures now. However it ran 13.2-13.5's all day long with a catback zorst. Did a decent number of hillclimbs, WAW's, track days and with 190K now on the clock shes proved reliable.A decent wrx seems to put put 250-350awhp. of course always higher numbers but that seems about average. Explicits put out 400awkw and goodness knows what Ramons will make LOL.The GC8's (classic shape) will be a tougher opponent as they weigh SFA. Full of fuel and crap in the car mine weighed 1200kgs. Newer ones are a fair bit heavier so it will be a fairer race! When I compared my car to a standard 07 wrx we were about the same around AHG long track (of course not racing but we looked at each others rough speed at various points and were about the same quality of driver (ie noobs!) Traffic light GP's they'll leave you for dead (5K AWD launches FTW) but once you start playing roll on's you should be able to pull ahead with ease. I regularly drive Mayo Road out towards Toodyay for a bit of fun. Fairly twisty and some hairy sections but the XR is a lot slower. To be expected though! the WRX's are a bit more nimble and AWD helps around corners.Straightline XR should be able to pull away from most WRX's. If your racing around corners you'd want to be a good driver with suspension and brake mods. Even then you'll prob get chopped as 400rwhp might not be all that helpful!BIGGEST PROBLEM: They are getting cheap so they are becoming the next S13 :( Edited 26/02/08 01:19 PM by Mat

I shall show some caution if I happen to come along side one of them, the next time I'm on someones private road of coarse.

wrxrw Member 177 Member For: 18y 5m 5d Posted 26/02/08 02:34 PM Share Posted 26/02/08 02:34 PM (edited) transformation from standard to modified was short lived, as a matter of fact it lasted but a few minutes on the dyno before the oil pump gears failed in spectacular fashion.on closer inspection the bearing caps looked quite ordinary which was quite alarming for an engine with less than 15,000kms. as of the 9th of this month the engine has been @ nizpro getting rebuilt, some kind of delay in the sourcing of the "new" piston's is a little frustrating but surely worth the wait in the end. I also optioned off pretty much the rest of their catalogue so it should be a serious car when its all put back together.still its just a daily! the real horsepower is reserved for the wrx! 800hp+atw (with enough nos to cheat and get it to that magic 1k mark!) wrxrw Member 177 Member For: 18y 5m 5d Posted 26/02/08 02:51 PM Share Posted 26/02/08 02:51 PM I hate the gap once you take off the x-over/pipes and the nizpro cover is too bulky so I made my own.its painted in the same high gloss piano black like the rest of the custom touches on the car.missing the fpv emblem which sadly broke trying to pull apart the original for a mould. managed to pick up a new badge today and apparently I can get another one "in 6 months time" fpv elitist bullsh*t!!
