on the topic of brakes, I'm looking for new front pads for the Brembo 6 for street/track, I'm not doing EBC reds cause I ran 3 sets of those on my XR5 and they seemed to have a knack for warping rotors. A mate had Project Mu HC800s on a his STI, good braking performance but the squeal gave me hearing damage, can't believe they're marketed as a street/track pad. Then there's DS2500 which seems to be a good all rounder except for dust, which I really could't give a crap about as I have matte black wheels. Are there any other options? Where's the best place to get the Ferodo pads?

As for fluid, the Penrite 600 is about $30 for 500ml. Probably the best value for the performance. I spend a bit more for Motul 660 ($50/500ml, cheaper on ebay). I've boiled brake fluid once on track, I'm happy to spend money to ensure it never happens again!

So whats happening with the cruises?

Do we need another one soon?

Dates were thrown around, but no further details.

Anytime anyone wants to go for a cruise on a Sunday afternoon - I'm in for that.

Happy to lead if no-one else wants to.

So, this Sunday... 4pm somewhere?

The ZF transmission in my green Tornado isn't happy at the moment.

Lots of slipping, before it locks up in 3rd gear.

Various error codes.

Might be something relatively simple - solenoid, old fluid. Might be fatal.

I bought a 20L drum of Gulf Western Syn-TS transmission fluid today.

Now I need to find a place that will diagnose and figure out my transmission, using the fluid that I will provide.

One place that I tried today will only use his own ZF Lifeguard, which means $700 just for the service on its own. Bugger that.

Any suggestions on which place to go to?

Hey Furious,

The DS pads are killer - Nice progressive feel and seem to work well with a bit of heat in them. Pressure requirements when very cold or during very light braking applications can be mixed - Bites way better when you apply a little more brake force (Would love to see how they go with some braided lines). They are a relatively quiet pad but can squeak a little at low speeds. However the dust is seriously horrendous... The worst of any pad/rotor combination I've used thusfar. It's fine if you clean them regularly but it is a pain...

Overall, I've been very happy with them. The T3/DS combo has, without exaggeration, at least 30% more absolute stopping power than the standard set-up. But the bloody dust hahaha :fie:

Have a chat with Matt from Racebrakes in Sydney - Really nice guy, good prices and knows his stuff :spoton:

He was on the forums a while ago but not sure if he's still around - Try AFF as well.

Have you considered the Project Mu's that everyone's been talking about?

Cheers,

Dan
