DONT DRIVE it until you have it looked at or look at it yourself. The pipes are easy to take off. Take the top cold pipe off first then the black pipe and feel the blades. Look in with a torch and see if its touching. The whirring sound you hear is likely a bend a worn blade. If you really need a hand I finish at 2 tomorrow and can come over and take a look.
