I already claim all fees, interest etc as a tax deduction etc.. but for some reason I keep thinking its deductible as a capital loss - or is that only if I actually sell some of the portfolio?? My Fin Advisor is unreachable for a few days so I cant ask him and its doing my head in trying to find the info on the web

Until you actually realise the loss (sell) you can't claim it as a loss, in the same way as you don't get hit with CG until you sell a property etc.Depreciation is slightly different as you effectively realise the loss each financial year.Leigh

tinyplums Member 1,080 Member For: 16y 2m 26d Gender: Male Posted 13/08/09 03:19 AM Share Posted 13/08/09 03:19 AM can only claim capitol loss if you have made a capital gain in the same period, otherwise you just finalise a loss.
