Dean, the 40D is far better than the 350D.. I couldnt tell you the nerd stuff behind it but 300D-450D are a "pro ammateur" SLR camera's while your 30-50D is like your "ammateur professional" range if you get what im saying. 5D / 1D etc is on a different level. 10K for a body, twice that for lenses, filters, flashes. Serious $$$

The 40D is quite chunky and feels very much like a SLR should. The 300D-450D are fairly small for a SLR. that's both a pro and a con. When I picked up Chubbz 40D, it was like I had a massive pen*s extensionin my hand. Tops.

If you had L series glass on a 350D, it would take better photo's than the 40D but the average user wouldnt notice the difference. With DSLR stuff, the $$ is in the lens. Bodies are just throw away stuff really. I think my lens cost $800 alone. The 350D is more than capable of getting magazine quality shots (I used to do a bit oh fishing journalism). 40D is overkill for people like us but I live by the motto "he who dies with the most toys, wins"

All have the same flash (which is pretty crap) but of course with DSLR you can buy different flashes.

In all honesty, if you could get that 40D kit for 11-1200, you would have a better camera than mine. It's newer and nicer. It wont make you a fantastic photographer overnight but it's a killa toy

Also got to remember that when I bought the 350D twin lens kit (and sold the smaller lens) I paid like $1500. Nowadays you get can better for cheaper almost. Stick to Canon whatever you do ok ;)

lol $900 is a dog act but even if he'll only take $1200 for it, it'd be worth it providing it hasnt taken 10000 pics. Ask him how many its taken. Average DSLR body has about 30-50000 shots. I think my DSLR has done 7000
