FU man I've already ordered a full set of badges with doubles of the tickford wings to go on each side of my boot, there's no going back now!!!!!!!!!!!

Also going to debadge my friends civic type R badge and stick it on my front grille in place of ford badge. Red H > blue oval.

Can any accountants here answer a question for me??

I've got a managed investment fund using cash borrowed against real estate equity through AXA Generations which not surprisingly has been ass raped by the economy sh*tting itself the last 2 years..

Theres no way im selling any stock at this point as its about $20k down from its original investment amount, net amount down is probably in real terms about $12k.

Without selling any stock, is it possible in anyway to deduct the decrease in portfolio value or losses or part thereof?? I already claim all fees, interest etc as a tax deduction etc.. but for some reason I keep thinking its deductible as a capital loss - or is that only if I actually sell some of the portfolio?? My Fin Advisor is unreachable for a few days so I cant ask him and its doing my head in trying to find the info on the web

Nang,

I have been going through similar issues with my family trust and business etc. The short of it is no! Until you actually realise the loss (sell) you can't claim it as a loss, in the same way as you don't get hit with CG until you sell a property etc.

Depreciation is slightly different as you effectively realise the loss each financial year.

thanks Leigh, that's exactly what I was thinking but hoping there was a secret loophole

my workmate reckons sell the shares now for what they are worth, claim the loss, then buy them back the next day hahahaha might lose a 100 or too with overnight fluctuations mwahahahaha.. dodgy bugger
