Dean, where or a 2nd hand / new deal? I've never ran a cat in my other cars before so I wont be this time when the time comes. Not many places want to have anything to do with that though.. I can tell you that my old car had the odd yellow sticker (I think was 5 all up) and the pits never said anything about having no cat! So those 10K fines are just internet rumours! Not to mention they'd be waiting a long time to get their money! I wonder if I'd get flames out of a nice 4" dump into 3.5inch exhaust. Flames either side would look very cool!

Kieran, I know the clutch will die, but if I can get the fmic / injectors done, it'll keep me happy while I can save for a clutch. My brother had a textralia clutch in his car and said it was great! Not sure and I know AP is the way to go but 4k for a clutch is a lot! I'll have to have a chat to Ross @ Autoclutch and see what he recomends. He's done my other clutches and does them for many of the workshops locally so I guess he would know!

Shoulda got an auto :(

Just punch it yourself... Easy enough on stands to pull it out from underneath or even easier if you have access to a hoist! Flames will be killer :w00t2:

Trade in on an auto, you wont regret it! I sure don't!!

Will have tune, injectors, fuel pump, exhaust & modded turbo by next week & possibly a plenum kit if no one buys mine before it goes in :spoton:

STD dump pipe and punched cat with injectors and tune got me 301rwkw

I'm still running the stock dump and punched cat today with my current power :)

Mat - Im having a Text twin plate arriving in the next week or so, so once its run in you can check it out if you want...

I was in the same position as you re a tune before the clutch and Iv just waited out until I have been able to get the clutch, Iv read that a lot of ppl pretty much waste a tuning session as the stock clutch starts slipping straight away once the cooler, injectors and boost are upped so once my clutch is in ill be throwing everything at it in the one tune. Just something to think about.

Re the 044... Again, I can only comment on my old GTR. At idle and in heavy traffic you could hear a fair bit of buzz but during normal driving I couldnt notice it... May have had something to do with the jet like induction noise, beefy exhaust note and the sound of an RB26 on song though!

What about an intank Walbro as opposed to an 044. Not supposed to buzz as much and are a direct fit?

044's are a waste of time unless you're gonna go surge tank IMO. They're more expensive, harder to fit & do the same job as the Walbro for tame power levels.

Im telling myself to keep saving and then do it all once. Deep down I know its the best thing to do, but I want at least the fmic and tune now so its something!

I'd love to check out the clutch when its done! Did you go through Rapid?

Ok so since I wont be going surge tank, I'll just go the walbro then. That was the original plan but im changing my mind more than a woman

Dean, I test drove both manual and auto and while the auto felt nice, the car it was in had a few problems and apparently that particular car's box was struggling apparently. "ohh we'll get this fixed for you if you buy it". I wonder what the BF's are being traded for these days? Did u buy your car from lanes in Mandurah?

350rwkw not bad through the standard dump eh...

Also since my car wont be driven for a couple of weeks, do I have to leave it on battery charger or should it be ok?

If anyone has a set of standard 18's (BFII- ripcurl ones??) with good rubber for sale, let me know. Even the BA XR8 rims look good! I really like the standard 18's.

Alternatively if anyone has a set of black Simmons FR18 or 19's I'd also be very keen if the price is right!

Na I didn't end up going through Lane's because they stuffed me around. Told me to come in on a Saturday morning for test drives of a few I was interested in (BF Phoon, BF Tornado & FG Turbo) but when I got there gave me the run around & wanted cash deposits, signatures etc. Said I was only there to thrash their cars so why should I get a test drive?? This was after being stuffed round previously by them the week before when everyone was 'too busy' to look after me. Must of been an age thing or because I have bad B.O :idunno:

I'm gonna go for a drive down there over the weekend & give the salesman a wave in the new car :spoton:

Stick with Titan's on Leach Hwy if you decise to do anything. They've always looked after me :spoton:

I know what you mean about Lanes... I was very lucky that my mate hooked me up with my car (35,990 brand new with premium sound) or else I'd be staying far away.

Ford dealers surely have to understand that the XR6T will be the next VLT and as a result, will have a huge amount of young people buying them!

Yeh mate, ordered it with a RAP1D kit so should be here soon.

No probs, ill let ya know when its run in.

Its probably just a smarter way if you can do it all at once... I know exactly where your at re getting a tune before the clutch. I planned to get my ute tuned about 30 times before I finally made the decision to just wait until I have everything and do it all at one and let me tell you Iv waited a long time lol. I just think its a bit pointless to get a tune and have to scale everything back to help the clutch if you need to get a retune as soon as you can afford a clutch. Hopefully once iv had everything done once and properly the first time it will have been worth the wait and putting tunes off to get it all done properly the first time.

The Walbro should be fine. Ill be running a Walbro intank on my ute, I know the ute's are a little more forgiving than the sedans for surge but until I turn the wick up/rebuild I probably wont need a Surge tank or an 044.
