Guest Guests Posted 25/10/07 02:09 PM Share Posted 25/10/07 02:09 PM Probably in the PFM book... You'll have to go buy it tomorrow and have a sticky beak :o The funny thing about tonight's little fog light incident was that on the way down to where we parked up, every second car had their fog lights on as they do every night around here It's discrimination I tells ya!!! Problem is I work on Prindiville Drive (and live in Duncraig) and know a few of the ford guys there, but after that quote I figured I'd stick by my WRX mechanic. Least I have 110% trust in him I know they werent impressed I didnt buy my car from them (mandurah!). Definitely agreed about the cleanliness though.. The day before I took my german sheperd puppy to the beach and they vaccumed the front but not the rear seats!!If you want to believe those oil test results that were published a while ago, the Penrite oil kicks ass. The Royal Purple also tested well. The Castrol Edge was ok but not overly flash as far as they were concerned. They weren't even very impressed with Redline. As far as the weight goes, I would probably just stay with the 0W40 although I do know a lot of people that use the 10W60. These engines are supposedly designed with relatively tight tolerances that favour a lighter oil. The 60 weight would run slightly higher oil pressure (not ideal considering the oil pump gears are already somewhat suspect), it would also drop the engine power output ever so slightyThe blokes across the road in the auto shop heavily recomend the Penrite and I've also heard good reports in regard to RP! Ran the redline gearbox oil in the WRX and it served its job superbly (had a very tired and notchy gearbox when it was sold) but I've seen first hand what can happen to the oil after 15K or so. Not good at all!So many new things to learn with this car :( Edited 25/10/07 02:18 PM by Mat

I 100% understand that to get decent gains you need an edit / ecu / fmic etc etc (which was all coming soon but now, thanks to a few issues arising, it will be late January at the closest!) but would it be worth doing anyway or shall I just wait? I have the perfect bit of intake piping to! Taken out of my Brothers R8 Clubby!

Lovely!I know with the new age wrx/sti's you cant do stuff like that cause they throw up ecu codes and performance gets worse!
