Guest newl Guests Posted 13/09/06 03:21 AM Share Posted 13/09/06 03:21 AM You could always to what we did and get one of those Hyun..Getz thingy bum draggers. Fuel efficient is an understatement really. Filled it up and it's done 90km on this tank and it finally left the F mark on the fuel gauge last night. That'll be sure to help save pennies. Posted 13/09/06 03:49 AM Share Posted 13/09/06 03:49 AM Yeh, I know I COULD get a couple of things done and leave it at that, but knowing what we all know about T5 manual gearboxes, I can see it becoming an anchor in the not too distant future. IF I am lucky like some have been, it will be fine... but that can be a bit of a big risk.Ultimately yes, I would like to buy a house. This probably won't happen for another year, but it would be nice to say I have SOME history of savings before that happens. Looking at my options, I would be lucky to get 25k for my car at private sale... how depressing is that!! So much for the T being unique enough to hold SOME value. Trade in price is around 20k... can you believe this car is still in warranty and is less than HALF of it's original price tag?!I thought downgrading to the car I want would save me some money on interest payments, but looks like its the same value. I was looking to something like a Fairmont GHIA with some options. So for me to save some pennies I would have to get something older, and probably less reliable. The fact is I want to get a place with lisa very soon and to do that comfortably will mean some saccrifices. HrmmmmmSome thought will be needed...←Stevewhat ever happens remember it is your decision.I thought long and hard about my situation and made the jump, whether it was the right or wrong decision I don't know, but at least it was my decision.I lost alot of money selling the t but I can't really complain.just remember that what ever money you pore into your car you will never get it back and as you know it is extremly had getting a private buyer to handover the kind of money you want for it. HrmmmmmSome thought will be needed...←Here's some advice .........SLAP YOURSELF ABOUT THE HEAD SEVERAL TIMES......and then consider this. You are a car enthusiast right, you love driving, playing with and talking about fast cars as well as spending time with like minded people. As a result a significant part of who you are will be lost by selling the T.If the T was all that stood in the way of getting a house tomorrow then it may be a sacrifice worth making but as you have said this is not the case.In order to achieve any significant financial gain both in a lump sum as well as ongoing running costs an Hyundai excel is exactly the type of car you will end up driving. Now slap yourself about the head again and think about that for a while.I know how it works, love interest comes along and the focus becomes settling down, getting a home etc. which is all good but let me share this little bit of wisdom there will always be more to life and in fact there needs to be for sanity sake. In closing remember this..........as hard as it may be to offload the T it will be alot harder to get it back!P.s If you can't bring yourself to slap yourself, give me a ring and I'll come around and do it for you

I would keep it for sure. I'm really worried about the expense I might incur in the near future. You are right though, for it to make a difference I would have to get a box bum dragging 4 pot milk carton... and there's no guarantee that it wont cost me more in the short term.Do you think it's worth re-financing whats left of my loan to a longer term? To free up a bit of money... I know I will be paying more for interest in the longer term.
