Sad turn of events, but last year barely happened so it's not surprising. Still have my livery from both years stashed away for display in my future man cave. Quote Thanks for the kind words guys.The long and short of it is the council changed CEO's after the first year and the new guy honestly had no time for us, we were tollerated (because of the contract put in place by the original CEO) but nothing more. They complained we weren't bringing enough to the town (inspite of it bringing thousands to a town of 300 people) and pushed us to try and deliver more and more for them with nothing but resistance and disinterest from the majority of the community. 2015 nearly got cancled hours before the Motorkhana kicked off because a council staff member tried to use an obscure Health Department requirement to snooker us and then obviously we painted the strip out there (which they were forewarned and agreed to / encouraged at the time). Then a few locals started rattling the cage again saying we'd f*cked the runway (which engineering reports confirmed we didn't) but it just gave those who didn't like the nothingness of their existance out there being disturbed something else to whinge about. We were given a list of things to address and did what we could to meet them, good faith proposals were put forward by us to the council to try and compromise and deliver something at least. Requests and suggestions were met with silence and when we said we could not and would not be paying the council more for a scaled down event it was clear they were intent on making it impossible for us to go again. I stood aside and let another person try and hold them to our contract but we were met with more obstructionism and it proved pointless.There's a great deal of support there in the shire and even on the council however in the end it was not enough. Oddly enough I respect their decision to obstruct us to the point where we decided we could not justify fighting anymore but it does dishearten me. It never made money for us or anyone involved, it really made no sense to do or continue but f*ck it was fun and for that thank you to each and everyone of you who made the event what it was.
