Lol....you're really spewing about me beating you to that deal aren't yah

Think I saw one on fagbook the other day....but over east and wants $600. Pretty sure the dummy said "used once but still has 5 lives left"...so not very reassuring that its been flashed back to stock.

And all good bout the suspension....I'll just front up the cash to family mechanic (and do a couple other random stuff at the same time).

For everyone else: There was an advert on Gumtree a couple of months ago for an Xcal 4 and some ID1000 injectors.

I saw the advert at about 7am on Sunday morning, just before I was going to sleep (ie after taxi night shift).

SMSes went back and forth, and it was confirmed that the Xcal was unmarried, etc.

All good. I asked for the address. Waited. Waited. Waited.

Eventually fell asleep.

Woke up early afternoon, to see that he had later replied with his address.

SMSed that I was on my way. All good.

Drove from Como to Quinns Rocks. Long way - about 40km.

Turned out that he'd sold the Xcal 4 for $400 an hour earlier to this guy here.

As that infamous philosopher, Maxwell Smart, once said... "Missed it by that much."

Sigh. If only the seller had have replied with his address a few minutes earlier (took him half an hour).

I really, really, really hate missing out on a good deal.

I also missed out on another Xcal 4 for $300 early this year. At the time I didn't jump on it quick enough because I didn't fully understand what they do. That one was sold by the time I figured out that it might come in useful some time in the future.

Lesson learned. If a good Xcal deal turns up then jump on it... immediately.

I might have a deal lined up for a free Xcal 3 that is married to another car. If I get that one then I'll try the listing on eBay for the place that claims to be able to reset them for $130.

Xcals are always for sale... I've set myself a limit of $200 for an Xcal 3 or $400 for an Xcal 4. Heck, I don't even know if the 4 is worth getting instead of a 3.
Getting one for either of those prices will happen, but it will take some patience and searching.
There's an Xcal 4 on AFF for $550; I've offered him $400. He'll probably get more than that, but at least the offer is there if he wants an immediate sale.
I have absolutely no use for an Xcal at the moment, hence taking my time to look for a cheap one. I'll need one when I get my car re-tuned sometime next year.

And all good bout the suspension....I'll just front up the cash to family mechanic (and do a couple other random stuff at the same time).

Take it to a taxi workshop, such as the one in North Perth (ie Bianca Automotive). Quick and cheap there.

I just found the old msgs to that bloke...seems I txted him the night before and at first he was firm at $450...and when I said I only had $400...he eventually said "pick it up in the morning".

I'm actually super lucky you didnt snap it up....cause I woke up late that day and only got to his at 1pm.

And I'm sure you'll get one eventually....you gunna get MT to retune the car later?

Nah I didn't check about injectors....basically when Rob said they charge $200 to install injectors....I figured I would pay the extra $100 odd to get new ones from MT (cheapest ive seen 1000cc is around $400....and think new ends up being $750 fitted)

And I sold my surge a few weeks back... $500

So paid $60 for the Keep Paying Money base kit lol (brand new off fagbook person)....which should be more than enough for low to mid 300s

Yep, I literally fell asleep.

I'm actually super lucky you didnt snap it up....cause I woke up late that day and only got to his at 1pm.

And I got here sometime between 1:30 and 2pm. Close one.

Married Xcal 3s can be bought for almost nothing. I might have a deal lined up where I get a married 3 in exchange for doing some maintenance on a BF wagon (ie something that I actually know something about).

If that eBay seller actually can reset them then that's the way to go.

Once I've got the car sorted and running properly I'll get it re-tuned.

It was tuned by a place in Sydney that isn't a Falcon specialist. It's also a sh*tload thirstier on petrol than I expected. I also don't have the Xcal that the previous owner had, so I can't set it back to Valet, etc.
