I don’t get the bit about oversized ball joints. They’re all one size. The control arms don’t wear out.

They do. They are a press fit, so each time they are pressed out and a new unit pressed in the interference between the balljoint od and control arm id decreases. Also as the ball joints are splined if the alignment is not 100% this will accelerate the wear.

I'd wager the mechanic that did Steve's has a tonnage gauge on his press and knows they should take 6 ton to remove and 6.5t to install and he's probably seeing alot less than that.

We did discuss that maybe the metal had been worn off from the repeated replacement yeah. He's the expert so all I want is a reliable car that I can flog the tits off of. I told him how I treat it too hahaha.

Hey guys,

I've read a few things over the last few pages regarding tyres and I've got a couple of questions to ask... Mine are pretty close to getting binned. (300rwkw G6ET)

I'm chasing a tyre, that I can get supplied and fitted locally, that's a good mix of grip, noise, wear and price.

Was keen on the Invo's until I read they run out of grip after 10k and the NT05's are horrid in the wet and when cold. Never been keen on Achilles/Fed's/NanKangs/Kinforest/Blue streaks or other cheapies...

Can anyone suggest a good mid-range tyre? I'm guessing like a Ku31 or an N6000? (I've got RE002's on now and they are great, but I think they're very pricey)

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Cheers,

I've got a noise coming from my front RH driving me crazy! only at speed of 70+ and its a wooshing vibration, sounds like it's creating friction...really hard to explain but it's only when pulling to the left or right, going straight and turning corners it's perfectly fine....

Took it in for a wheel balance and alignment, they said the front wheel has a minor flat spot that could be causing the issue...

Really want to get this sorted but I don't want to pay hundreds to identify the problem...

NVT, a lot of people will make recommendations about tires, and everyone will have a different opinion on a specific tire.

I am sure you have read that I am not a big fan of the ATR Sports2 especially in the rain.

I am on the hunt for 2 x 19" luxury rims like the ones I got on the car. The reason for this is so that I can chuck on 2 x atr sports 2 tires on there for summer and for cruises.

Otherwise during winter the Nitto Invo's are the go.

In regards to the 10000km grip thing. I have gone over 10000km already with the rear invo's and I cant say that they have lost traction.

They have been moved to the front today and 2 new Nitto invo's went on the rear.

I got 310 killer wasps at the rear wheels and they normally have an easy life during daily driving.

The ATR sports 2 for the rear and the fronts both did 20000km. Can't complain about that.

Got my Nitto Invo's from the Continental place in Malaga Arronm.

I seriously think front wheel bearing hub. hour to fix and as you're selling the car, buy from eBay have delivered and fit it. takes nothing

Does the FG use the same front bearing hub as the BA & BF (ie AU22B663A)? If so, I've got a spare one at home you can borrow for a few days. Put it on and see if the noise goes away.

Since a few of people here seem to have the INVOs now, does anybody else think they're noisy af? Sitting at 100 on the highway it's really loud, way louder than the Achilles ATR sport that were on it before. Had them on for about 1000km so they should have worn in by now (had full alignment done). Everybody seems to be getting maintenance done, I just had the car re-tuned and also got new diff bushes fitted, it's a new car now I swear.
