Yeah NVT....let me know how you go...the alpha parts one I was considering (pretty cheap)...but apprently its only available delivered.

Even though they are based in malaga..and I rather pick up myself and know that some dumb courier won't f*ck it up :/

Apparently there is 2 brands and one is better than the other. Spoke to some ford parts guy but can't remember what brand he said was better. Judging by your second link it might be that gordan brand (cause I think I remember him saying it began with a G lol). I have his card somewhere if you feel like calling him :P (he said he used to order them and they would sell like hotcakes - he had minimum orders of 10 but apparently other companies were undercutting him and it wasn't worth it to him in the end so he gave up).

But yeah if you figure out a good hook up please share cause I want an xr8 bonnet eventually :)

Little random question for anybody who CBF....

How often are people servicing their ZF auto trans? I did one at 90,000kms (about 5,000kms after I bought it); but noticed the sticker in my car saying "next service at 110,000" which I have just clicked over.

When ringing the trans place....he said "we recommend a service every year or 20,000kms" to which I said "are you serious? even whilst using ZF fluid AKA liquid gold?" .... then he replied "well taxi drivers stretch it out to 40,000kms, so I guess you could technically do that...."

Other thing that stumped me was he suggested the same intervals for diff oil, coolant, power steering fluid I.e. 2 yrs/40,000kms. Does that sound about right (as I think I recall a thread where people were doing their diff oil every 10,000kms? and coolant/PS fluid @ every 20,000kms?).

Obviously ZF fluid will not last as long as 'manufactured specifications' .... but would every 40,000kms be common practice? Car is still stock...driven hardish maybe 10-15% of the time....and doing about 20,000kms per year at the moment.

any thoughts?

Ouch

The ZF is touted as a "Forever Sealed" unit - meaning it's advertised as NEVER requiring maintenance

General consensus is 100k is a good time to give it it's first service

Name and shame a transmission place that is recommending every 20k and calling 40k stretching it

Sureshift automatics website reckon autos need a filter change every 20,000km and full flush every 40,000km..

Was on their website reading something else and then read this thread..

Hahahaa....nah wont name and shame cause they did good by me last time lol

And yeah I read before it was a lifetime deal...but I think that is more of a ford sales pitch. Might have to find that old thread I was reading...but I think people were saying a lot less than 100,000kms.

Maybe I will meet half way and do a service every 50,000kms lol

Thanks panda! Previously known as slightly depressed panda lol

Its cool when other people from other states answer questions in the WA thread hahaha

I will have to do more research I guess...I didnt realise you could change the filter without doing a flush I.e. if 20k service suggests filter only then how do you change without dropping fluid?

I have the metal pan if it makes a difference :/

I changed ours at 60 and will do every 40. If I had high power I would do every 20. Gulf western and filter is less than $100 per change.

This at 40,000. Imagine it at 100,000.

No Thanks!
