And when is it needed? I can't seem to find much info on that one from processwest.com on that particular model I see. There is 2 of them on Gumtree now for $600. My car is in for a tune next week getting a Walbro 255lph in tank pump fitted, is this better than a having a surge tank or is good to have both? I've told the tuna I'm after about 300rwkw so is this unnecessary? Edited 09/09/14 08:57 AM by RB Snake

This style of surge is the old style, new one is on the web site for $1000 or there abouts.I picked up mine for $300 if it was $600 I would have just gone a new one for its advantages. In regards to your question is it needed, everyone has a different opinion on that, or at what stage you need it.It basically to keep constant fuel supply as low tank volume and gravity = no fuel No fuel supply = damageDamage = $$$$.

A walbro intank is ok as long as you have at least half a tank of fuel on board , any less and it pays to avoid boosting too hard as lean out can occur.A surge tank is insurance, a KPM intank hi flow unit is the other option if you havnt already purchased your walbro. With the KPM you dont need a surge , this would be my choice if I did the whole mod thing again as it is super quiet and supplys plenty of cold fuel. Surge with 044's can get noisy, especially when hot.
