Heard they are not as good as ATR 2? I've never tried either but I think a few guys have had slidey times with the ATR's (masda74 commented on these and I read it somewhere else too).

If you want the absolute best; I can highly recommend Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's....I have them on rear in a 265/35/18 and they are awesome in the wet...drive normally (no thrashing off the spot) and they hold traction very well - and also around corners back end never slides (but I'm not keen to try fast turns in wet anyways)...they are night and day to my last sh*tty tyres (Falkens)

But they are expensive! Mine where like $475 fitted/balanced by KTAS - which are a bunch of retards who I do not recommend lol (East Perth Store anyways)...but I think I priced up fronts for $355 each or something (I stinged out on the fronts and went with Kuhmo KU39's - which are also good) - but I am now trying to find a solution to a vibrating issue which has occurred since new tyres/rims were installed (Tyre place rekons could be driveline issues as they have been balanced and aligned 2 times and KTAS also 1 time)...but who knows - perhaps I got a dodgy tyre or rim but the brands I mention are good anyways lol

The KU39's would be in your price range if you shop around (some places $350+) but I bought mine online and paid to be fitted/balanced - price was $200 each plus $30 for balance (same size 245/40/18 you are after)...I have not tried them on the rears but so far for turn in, etc they grip almost as good as the Goodyear Directional 5's I had in the front before them...

Hope any of this can be help for you :P

RB Snake, I got my ATR Sport 2 from the guys in midland. The ATR Sport2 are LETHAL in the wet. I have had my fair share of " OH sh*t" moments.

I plan on getting the rears done soon as the markers are coming up.

That being said, thanks for the heads up that tyre power in midland do not have stock.

I will be looking for the Nitto Invo's depending on price that is.

I could have sworn that Steve mentioned something about a new tire from Achilles along the lines of PS91 or something to that effect.

Steve, can you remind me about the tire? I cant find any info about it.

I agree that ATR2 are not too good in the wet. But are very good quiet try in the dry.

Mine have done 20000kms now and still have lots of meat left on them.

Maybe they just need a good scrub in the dry :)

I havent used the ATR2 , If that's the case may be KU31 or Nexen 6000. I have them on the wifes BF (6000) and they grip awesome in the wet.

Forget the old ATR. The better the tyre the higher the price. 6000 are less than 200 a tyre. And at that price you dont feel to bad when you smoke em up.

I'm really happy with ATR2 in the wet in 245/40/18

Got them from Tyrepower Midland for 179ea I think.

I can take off under a bit of power in the wet no problems. The let go on wet roads if you let the torque really get going but that's fine. They hammer in the dry for such a cheap tyre, straight or cornering, even better than the KU31s I used to swear by. And quiet as well. I'm in love.

Would prefer Invos on the front though I think. And on the rear too if I wasn't concerned about them losing tread too quick due to my 500+km a week.

Also no idea what other Achilles someone was talking about, wasn't me, or if it was, it was a year ago and I've forgotten.

I got the ATR Sport fitted $145ea fitted etc. I really don't need that great tyres since the car is stock, will see how they hold up after the mods in September. They were great on the (slightly wet) drive home, hell of a lot more sticky than the Linglongs. But... they're very loud, maybe they need to be worn in some more. I actually felt confident driving it home in the wet.
