Im running Hankook Ventus EV14's on the rear of my car (275/30/19's 220TW) and Invo's on the front (255/30/19's 220TW) im Very happy with both tires.

I probably wouldn't run invo's on the rear again they just dont last. I also wouldn't go higher the 220tw if you want grip

So many choices! hahah

So clearly its my driving pattern that needs correcting....or I just gotta be better driver in the wet lol

Hmmm.... and luke @ 220 treadwear....how many kms would you get? like <15,000?

It sucks they don't make the Y rated invos in my size ....but I guess the W @ 260 will be decent enough

Dean was the bloke that mentioned KU31s on here years ago. First tyre I bought to replace the factory Dunlops, been pretty happy ever since.

They will light up top of first and second though in the dry but that might be why my stock input shaft has lasted so long.

I see Luke edited Evos to Invos lol .... well there goes that idea for my rear!

I'm confused Luke....cause if you don't like the 18000kms (or 15000kms really) with the invos, why did you choose a hankook with a lower tread wear? I thought W rated invos were 260 and Y is 220?

Even if you got the Y rated invos @ 220 wouldn't you expect the same kms from the hankooks as well? Or is the material of the hankooks better and you expect more kms?

Yeah these cheap and nasty things that came with the rims are OK in the dry I must admit. As I've said before though...get a bit of water on the road and they are FARRRKED. I'd be sliding around the RABs at 20kmh as well in my work gear filled car. Cannot wait to replace them on fronts at the very least. Was actually concerned I would slide out taking off uphill in Freo the other day!

KU31s I have found to be cheap in my old 235/45/17 size from KMart Tyre N Auto in Midland. Yet to price up some 18's for the new rims though. Fingers crossed! Probably go 245s as well.

I was recently told to look at the KU-36 instead of the KU-31, especially for the rears as they would provide good grip.

What is everyone's thoughts on this?

Tyrepower in midland have some good blokes there. I got my Achilles there.

I am considering leaving the fronts as in and getting something like the KU-36 for the rears.

My biggest gripe with the invo's is that the grip went off very early in the tires life and the centre section wore much quicker than the edges. Im fastidous about tyre pressure and alignments and could only put the down othe design of the tire.

I went for the Hankooks as they where on the shelf, had good reviews and cost me $270 each. They have a better cornering feel than the invo's and seem to hook up very well. They are touted as a summer tire so my opinion may change once the rain set in. (not that I drive the F6 much in the rain)

We I sat 'they don't last" im talking more about grip levels than actual tire life. If they stayed sticky to the end of 15000kms I would have been happy. I think I was lucky to get 10000kms of decent grip.

I thought KU36 is a semi slick....and therefore would slide and go crazy in the wet? Coming into winter soon enough...I'm interested in finding a good/excellent wet weather gripping tyre. Hence all the talk before about sliding in roundabouts and what not :P

Mark @ Tyretrader is suggesting the KU31 slightly outperforms the KU39 even though the 39 is supposed to be their 'top of the range' tyre (just beneath the KU39 in the Kuhmo tree range) so I'm a little torn as to which one to choose. Both tyres are priced the same and the ku39 tread pattern looks similar to a back to front version of the conti sport contact 3 (which is the tyre I REALLY want), but not sure if I can stretch to that price as I would feel more comfortable in the cheaper bracket if I can help it lol The KU39 also has a slightly lower UTQG of 280 vs the KU31 with 320 (in my size anyways)...and the 39 has a nice 'rim protector' thingy and I think the 31 is getting phased out? And probably replaced by the KU39? But IDK....its kinda hard to argue when an 'expert' says the 31 is better though :/

And thanks for that Luke! That makes more sense about the level of grip vs actual tyre life. I must assume when alot of people on the forums say "it lasted 15000kms or 10000kms" they must be referring to levels of grip...cause I've never had a set that hasn't lasted me more than 30,000kms+ (even the old days on the KU31 I would get like 50,000kms lol) but that was me running the actual tyre down to the minimum and not so much focusing on whether it gripped or not.

Maybe I'll give the invos a miss then...also what's the actual name of your tyre?...when I did a google search for "Hankook Ventus EV14" nothing came up...the closest name being 'V12 evo k110' or 'V12 evo2' with those 2 being 280 and 320 TW and then the next step up of Ventus R-S3 which is a semi I think at 140 and 200 TW? But at $270 each....I'm assuming that was your 'super special industry friend' rate :P
