Was his name Phil? Good bloke...

When I was in there a couple months back getting a new tailshaft he had a set of BIllet axles there for BA's... Not cheap but if you want bulletproof then ask him about them!

Yeah Josh, that's him.

I did ask if he had better axles for FG and he said he didnt, but I'll talk to him more when I drop the ute off.

How much was your new tail shaft ? I saw an F6 corkscrew one a few weeks back on a Wednesday night and I dont want that happening to me.

oh and after some searching around, looks like im getting my diff bushes changed at Midway Ford (Midland) $560 for the job, supplying my own superpro comforts. Best price I could find even with checking a few taxi places.

When I did mine I pulled them myself and just dropped the shafts off. Was dirt cheap for Phil to straighten them, but it was about 3 years ago now.

At the time Phil told me he did heaps of Ford Ute shafts and unless going custom rear there was no alternative.

One thing I remember after getting them done was how much quieter and smoother the ride was when cruising on freeway.

How do you straighten a bent shaft and make it like new again? Never works for me with coat hanger wire, hahaha. Serious question though.

Ahhhh crap bogan. Sorry bud I thought u had a sedan... Good luck for you though because he specialises in building 9" diffs and solid axle setups etc... Do it mate you know you want too!! ;) haha my tailshaft was $1600 for a thicker chomoly tubed shaft with oversize unis and oversize centre bearing... And new rear CV joint.. Fitted balanced... And a free sticker :)

Not sure what the process is but I would guess a lot of heat and knowing where to apply pressure to true the shafts to as close to new as possible. Still was about a 1/5 of the price of buying replacement OEM shaft from Fraud :O

...........speaking about shafts. When to WAW last night for a look and spotted a black FG F6 stall up at the tree followed by a massive bang. Judging by the brown/rusty stain left behind I am guessing tail-shaft related.
