It stops excess oil in the intake system right, I assume it gets there from the recirculation of a bit of air?Edit - just reading it's from the blow by oil mist venting through that little PCV tube back to the intake. Is that the same one which snapped on my car ages ago? I seem to recall mixing that up with the PCV tube though. Terrible luck man :( Keen to see what testing reveals.I hosed mine down, gave it a wipe with the soapy hand cloth and dried. Couldn't leave it filthy like that!!Wouldn't mind some gate myself but I need other things done like rear bushes. My turbo is barely holding the gases as it is, makes some odd noises at times due to the wastegate spring only barely holding it shut I think! Crank case ventilation system or turbo oils seals issues i suspect

I've never heard of the dipstick popping out before. Is this a problem you've come across before Luke? You haven't overfilled the oil have you Grug...... I've never heard of the dipstick popping out before. Is this a problem you've come across before Luke? You haven't overfilled the oil have you Grug......Theres a 1way valve installed in between the plenum and rocker cover. it's ment too allow crankcase gases too be drawn into the plenum under vacuum/ cruise conditions and close off under boost too prevent crankcase over pressure. if this has failed the crankcase becomes pressurised under boost and the pressure can pop out the dip stick, it also pressurises the turbo oil drain and can cause issues with lubrication/seals as the oil cannot drain out of the turbo quickly enough
