The nice gauges are around 150 a pop. I'd prefer them but I do have to work within a budget. Also realised insurance is up for renewal again soon, was 13 or 1400 last time. That will slow me down!Maybe if I bothered to ask to see some top shelf gauges in action and could compare to cheap ones I'd have ordered differently...too late for that though! If they suck ass I'll sell em Looked ok in the vid, I can imagine the startup time could be improved though (just realised you have the vid up of the old faster ones right?). Vid of the new ones?No vid of new ones. Autometer dont do facy sh*t. They just work straight away and do there job.

For things which require an instant response, such as boost/vac then a mechanical gauge is definitely the way to go. For everything else like temperatures and oil/fuel pressures electric is fine because its not a very erratic and fast moving gauge.

Mechanical boost isn't a problem of course now I think about it, only oil/hot fluids. D'oh!Now looking for a mechanical boost gauge...ebay has autometer cobalt for 139 shipped? Good price?Linky linky link Edited 26/06/10 04:26 AM by -SteveR-

Read that electric are fast in this series but I think mechanical will be best for my situation!Found one on ebay for 120 plus $14 shipping, best so far. Credit card is calling to me again... That mechanical gauge looks like the vacume reading is either on or off?

Looks nice though. Stupid ebay compulsion, not like me to jump into it like that. Do they still have the chrome face if mounted in a tripod holder? Can you take it off?Edit... OK I'm banning myself from ebay for the weekend! I'll hook up the damn gauge I bought and see how laggy it is then go from there. If I could find a mechanical race tech gauge in PSI with blue LED/smoke face I'd be set. XtRmn8 - could you video it? I'm after the real time reading, I can see that the mechanical boost gauge is much faster responding than the electric in that video, which I'd prefer. Would read the right number faster when you mash the pedal I'd imagine. How fast is yours compared to the two in that video I posted?
